mace cai on vz. HELP?

hey guys i installed the mace cold air intake enclosure on my vz executive yesterday, i turned the car on and the engine struggles to keep on n keeps reving up n down, i watch the intake meter jump up n down sharply. then the car turns off. also there is a strong petrol smell coming.
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? how have other people installed the mace CAI and gotten away with it? is there something i need to reset or something.

I have a CAI similar to mace with pod setup..installed it myself a few months ago...no problems till date...what's the intake meter ur talking about???

ive installed a vacuum gauge on my car to show the intake. and its jumping up and down when the cars turned on. it never does that with the stock filter.
i heard you can reset the computer? how do you do that

did you disconnect the battery terminals before you installed the cai??
I am not a 100% but try disconnecting the battery terminals and then reconnect after a minute or so...might work...but again not a 100% sure...if its just the computer which might be confused with the more air flow this should work...

reconnect your airflow meter.. I reckon that is your problem.

which ones the airflow meter? theres that thing with two screws that connects onto the air intake manifold with the wire coming out. ive still left that on, basically all ive done is taken the box off n put the new CAI in its place. nothing has changed electronically

hey again guys, just tried disconnecting the battery, left it for two mins to reset the computer and it works fine. errors gone and the car isnt struggling anymore. cheers and thanks, and hope itll b a help to anyone else who gets the same problem

sorry to say this but the problem is back. allow me to demonstrate.
switch the car on, car turns on but makes a noise silenter than what the engine should sound like. automatically keeps pushing like a rev to keep the car on then eventually turns off.
? WTF

+1 for you've disconnected or otherwise buggered your MAF.

I had the same problem with my old XH falcon ute. I would just start it then rev the shit out of it and it would be sweet. but that car was 10yrs old at the time. Also when I try to reset the ecu I leave the battery disconected for at least 20 seconds more computer things need like 10 seconds or more to reset propperly even up to 30 seconds.

but does sound like your MAF is crapped it self

sorry just sorted it all out, the airflow meter was the wrong way around and then i reset the ecu again and its all good now
