So I bought a new genuine GM alternator off eBay the other day, advertised as "VT-VZ LS1 140A". Turns out though, that the regulator port changed between the VY and VZ, so what I actually have is a VT-VY alternator.
The new one is on the left, and my "old" VZ one is on the right:
Now the seller is being very good about the whole mixup, but according to his supplier there is the version he supplied me (with the wrong regulator port), or the L76 (aka 6 litre V8) model, which looks like this:
And that one obviously has the wrong pulley!
So here I am in alternator limbo, somewhere between a VY LS1 and the VZ L76! I'm led to believe that the pulleys can simply be swapped over and all will be well? Has anyone had a similar experience or can shed any light on this?
