    Lightbulb Fuel Consumption

I just wanted to share with you guys, anyone that may be wondering about what the fuel consumption is like for a VZ. Below are the details:

    Vehicle: VZ Berlina
    Engine: 3.6L Alloytec 175kw
    Fuel Capacity: 75L
    Trip: Sydney to Gold Coast
    Km: 848km
Average Fuel Consumption: 8.2L per 100km
    Total Fuel Consumption: 68.98L

Perhaps others would like to share their fuel consumption results... I am quite amazed, I reached my destination in 1 tank, although it was cutting it very close.

    mmm! not bad
do a run to Horsham every week 650K round trip from Melb
have had it down to 6.8l/100 usually 8.6L/100 is the average
    but that's boring driving

    yes that sounds right

but my vp is moded and probaly dose like 20.0 per 100km or higher

plus the breather lines on the tank are ****ed so im gessing fule just evaporates out of my tank

i am going to fix this soon and ad some new coil packs platnuim spakplugs injectors put half the ristictor back in get a reco box it's auto im not sure if vp's have a converter clutch but vz's sure do

the converter clutch save's a lot of fule in auto's

and if your auto is like mine then you use a lot of fule it is on it's last legs

Last year went down to Canberra from Sydney, did about 780km all up & used less than 3/4 of a tank, avg fuel about 7.3L/100km. Only used about 57.7L
Filled up the next day & dist to empty showed 980km

I'd check your o2 sensor and ECU temp sensor - 2 of the biggest fuel wasters of all time if not working correctly. A VP should be under 12 L/100.

I drove down from Adelaide to Mount Gambier a while back after a service. It was in the morning so the air-conditioning wasn't on, tyres were pumped up and i was driving at 95kph in a convoy and i managed high 6's/100kph. But that was highway driving...the whole way.
As soon as you give the ute a bit of a flogging..well..the fuel consumption heads skyward

I do find it quite interesting to use the (for want of a better word) service screens in the VZ.
You push Mode + Set and the same time while the ignition is on accessory and then while holding these 2 buttons in, turn the key to the ON position. You'll hear a long beep and it opens up a whole new set of menus which include the 'instantaneous fuel usage' screen, although it is displayed in L/Hr...
Lots of little things that ya learn while stuffing around in the car. Anybody else know what secrets the VZ's hold?

I travelled from Sydney to snowy mountains and back averaging 7.2l/100k's...and that's with really hard foot......can't be happier......and that's coz of my exhaust and cai setup..before the lowest i could go was 9 or so l/100k's..

I assume he is referring to average including some city driving. In my old vz v6 manual i could get just under 8l/100k on the highway but throw in city driving and it would be between 11 and 12

i did 8.5l/100km on a trip from adelaide to swan hill sitting on the speed limit, then about 8.7l/100km on the way back driving with 3 mates and at varying speeds - not too shabby, there was probably 250kg of 'stuff' in the car inc me

My bloody average has gone up to 13.5L/100 due to my right foot getting heavier..... It still sits on 7 on the highway though

yeah that's city driving mainly.. but even if i do an hour trip up the highway sitting on like 110km/h in 6th... she wont drop below about 10.8/10.9..

pretty shitty if you ask me, and i don't give it too much shit.. i've got extractors n exhaust but the economy has always been like that.
