Hey all, been reading up on the whole Powertrain Issue, and I have a feeling my problem has something to do with me getting a cat back exhaust. The thing is, it ran fine for a 7 hour trip (pretty much the whole way on cruise control) and then with an hour and a half to go to my destination it went in to limp mode. I had to pull off to the side of the road and let it sit for a while. I then continued on with no problems although i did not put it in to cruise control. i was away for 6 days and drove the car minimally with the warning being up for the first 4 days or so and then disappearing. so i started my drive home thinking it might be alright to put cruise control on again, within minutes it went in to limp mode. i let it sit again for a few minutes, and then continued on with the warning on the whole way, and did not use cruise control. About half an hour after i got home, the fault had gone again, and the car has been fine for 10 days now, although havent tried cruise control yet.
Anyways, thats the story, would i be better off replacing my exhaust back to stock, or getting it scanned by mechanic?
Also, I have a mace CAI, and recently theres been quite a smell of fuel in the cabin, i only notice it occasionally but its definately there, any ideas?
Apologies for the long post
Cheers,
Daz

Probably nothing to do with using the Cruise Control (couldn't really imagine how it could). Most likely more to do with modifications or even battery condition. Take it to a workshop with a suitable scan tool to accurately identify source.
Not sure personally what this would be. At a guess, I'd firstly change your CAI back to the stock airbox.
Normally cruise control etc will play up for example if u got exhaust issues or you've just left the PCV hose off the intake pipe.
The exhaust could be a O2 sensor gone, causing some fueling issue....... (same as how the cats heat up when u first turn on the car) ........
But really, get it scanned......... until u know what error code is lodging your blindly guessing and so is my advice.

I know it might be a silly question but have you installed the MAF on the correct way when fitting the CAI kit?
+1 for MAF.
Doesnt it only go one way? And wouldnt there have been earlier issues if it wasnt? CAI has been on for 6 weeks, and this happened 2 weeks ago just after my exhaust went on. And its driven fine ever since, just havent put cruise control on. Ill have to have a check when I get home

"Doesnt it only go one way?"
It can only work one way but you can install it both ways.

It should have shown up as soon as you installed the CAI, but when it comes to cars you just can't be too sure

Keep us all posted
