hey guys,
yesterday i gave my car a mid week blast at the car wash with the pressure hose. Thought i had some bird shit on my bumper so i blasted it...
MASSIVE FLAKE OF PAINT FLICKS OFF!! RAAAGGEEEE
its like 10cm x 4cm diagonally down my bumper.
fortunately its matte black under the black paint but it still looks horrible.
so, my question is, what should i do?
is there anything i can do to stop the flaking from continuing?
how much would it cost for a respray of the bumper?
should i sell the car or kill myself?
anyone else had any paint rage experiences?
Sorry to hear mate, I personally have not had a prob like this but my next door neighbors magna (07 model i think) has large chunks of paint just falling off her front bumper aswell! From what she told me, the bumper had a hit @ some stage and was resprayed and the paint is not sticking, could your bumper have had a respray at some stage?

Hey mate, my front bumper is full of chips, and I think it is due to the reason stated above. I got quoted $350-400 to get the whole front bumper resprayed.

yeah im not sure cxcxcx, i got it at 40k so its possible. was in disbelief at how much came off, very very angry.
id pay $250 to get it shmick again but then id probably get my back bumper done to as it had some paint tear marks when i got it.
pretty common for ba/bfs to peel paint, there is a ba sedan getting round town that missing almost half the paint off the bonnent, and my next door neighbours bf wagon is peeling off the top of the tailgate,

When in the chicken coup, if i wanna get lucky, i get clucky clucky
I had that happen on my dark green VS - it had a deep chip in the front middle of the bonnet and that, combined with pointing the high pressure hose directly at the chip caused a big chunk of paint to lift and fly off! I am sooooo careful washing my VZ now - never pointing the hose directly at the paint but more making the water glance the panels.
I have heard stories of sorts, some people have used pressure hoses (im guessing that are WAAAAY too powerful), and damaging paintwork.
Whilst I have never used any pressure hoses outside dedicated car cleaning service stations, steer clear of them and just use waterless cleaning stuff, it works absolute miracles (evn if it takes a lil longer).
never for mine, (might depend on the product).
I use FW1 cleaning wax, and it works miracles![]()
Wow that sucks. I'm always to worried to use a high pressure hose on my paint work, even more so now...
