Default Alloytec 6 speed gear stick

Hey i was just wondering if anyone has any diagrams on how the gearstick seperates from the box or anything similiar to that.

Maybe out of a workshop manual or something.. IF you do could you please let me know!

theres 3 clips that hold the linkages to the top of the box, then the 4 nuts that hold mounting plate to the body of the car

I'm talking more about the actual gear stick itself, how to removing the top (Thicker) piece from the other, looking to modify it

Just a question on a VZ manual thread
if im driving along the highway at 80kph in 6th gear and i plant my foot, obviously the revs take a while to build up from 1500rpm, but the worst sound occurs, almost like a groaning sound. it goes away once the revs reach 3000-3500rpm.

it only really happens when i plant the foot in 5th or 6th while the engine is at low revs.
its hard to say where its coming from, but it seems to be coming from the motor not the gearbox.
What do other VZ manual drivers think? i wouldnt think auto drivers would have ever experienced this as the trans would just change back a gear...

It removes both, as the gear knob is part of the boot cover & cant be seperated.

It isn't, if you take the button out their is a screw behind it and then the front plate lifts off.
Thats how I changed my VZ auto stick from plastic to chrome.?

Mate, where talking about a manual gear stick here, not auto! hence the thread title.

you can break the sealant on the the large knob by turning it real hard, i believe its only a rubber moulded thing, you can break it off,

i sense a shorter shifter idea comming about from this........

you can remove the knob off the stick by jamming 2 small screwdrivers in under the blue ring tab at the base of the knob, lever them out, while holding them, reef the gearknob off the stick,

if you then want to make a different knob, pull the boot back over the knob, cut the cable tie holding tit on, then remove the boot from the knob

yeah your spot on.. i can remove the knob from the car, what i dont want is sparks and shit flying around my car from cutting and remoulding.. is there a way to remove the actual top part of the stick, the bit the knob sits on so it can be modified?

Impulsesv6 do you still have the photo i sent you of what im talking about?

    v8 is different juz,

impulsive, if you get the stick and mount the fat bit in a vice, then twist the rest of the gear selector off the top part of the selector, im pretty sure you can do it like that,

as the top bit is rubber impregnated when made

I've never had any issues with mine i must say. Do you have a shifter? Mine felt a bit notchy and was hard to select but when i put in my rip it improved it 100%
