Default Never going to another holden dealership

    been workin flat out latelly
got the missus to take the car to holden for a bad vibration in the front end around 40-100kph they told her it was the brakes she mentioned it was fine under braking, they told her to leave it with them 5 hours later she picked up the car...
    1.)vibration still there
2.)they did a service on the vehicle (it was due but was getting it serviced elsewhere, nothing was said about them srvicing the vehicle.)
3.)they machined the brake discs that had already been machined less than 12 months ago (the whole disc was clean and noticbly in good condition{the outter edges were also clean})

i went back in to see the dealership after work, they took it for a test drive for the first time (didnt even road test it prior or after the work was completed)
the mechanic who test drove it knew what it was straight away, a scored out tyre with a buckled side wall (on the bathurst peter brock cruise my gaurds bit the rear tyres a few times these tyres were rotated to the front shortly after)
i asked the mechanic why the car was serviced and he said they PRESUMED it was also in for a service (my gf payed for all the work already)
i contacted the service manager shortly after this and told him what happened his respose was "im really sorry theres nothing we can do about it we dont refund our work"...

A nice little letter to GM is on the cards this is the 3rd dealership i have had trouble with, i took my car to a carline franchise no problems at all they even asked me what oil i wanted to run in it (i went for royal purple of course, it now has valvoline crap in it same as it rolled out of the factory with)

    now thats my days rant

Mate, that's really unfortunate that what was wanted and what occurred.

I've always found nothing but helpful staff and although I've had a lot of issues I've always been able to sort things out with the staff or if unsatisfied, through the general manager of the dealership.

A firm but friendly approach usually gets results.

Maybe your lady unintentionally gave approval for the work, it might be time to sit down, discuss in exact detail of what was said and what was signed and then approach the manager.

Best of luck with this unfortunate event.

Yeah......... I went to Eagers to claim for my busted intake manifold hole (which all the alloytechs engines have) .......... lol "aparently I did it" by tightening the thing i guess when I was on holiday "while driving around, sitting in a spa etc"....

So I guess all the people with an alloytech engine must have all broken that same hole on the intake manifold...........

Sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience mate but you have to remember that they're all more or less franchises, and the bad service of a few does not reflect all of them

Hopefully you find one that's right for you! Some can be shocking but that's just life!

When you took the car in and left it, surely they (Service Dept.) would have asked you to sign a form. Did they? If so what did it have to say? By signing the form you have probably authorised them do do whatever they deem necessary. Whenever you sign such consent, ALWAYS endorse it 'no additional work to be performed without written approval of owner'. At least that way you might have 'some' legal re-dress. Good luck with it.

The missus took it in, and she probably just said 'do whatever'.....

If you remove your plenum you'll find that hole
belongs there. It is not a broken bolt hole or
    manufacturing fault.
    I'm not afraid.

I find the local holden dealer here is excellent. The service guys are friendly and know their stuff, plus the spare parts crew also are helpful.
Can't say the same about the toyota dealership, the exact opposite here, arrogant and useless.

after years of working in dealerships for holden and ford toyota mazda its easy to see how these things happen there is a lack of talking between the front counter and the workshop , jobs are written up and passed on to the workshop controller you then decides which person to pass the job onto , like most dealership they run on apprentices so in the end you could be paying top dollar $100 an hour to have a 16 yr old kid work on your car under the supervision of a mechanic at the other end of the workshop and a foreman who is stressed out running the workshop and a service manager who has no mechanical trainning what so ever . so ask yourself what are you really getting for your money ???

lol yea, all car manifactures put a screw in their intake manifold for it to snap on it's own leaving a hole aey??? I think not. Bottom line is, if it was un-necessary they should of just not had a hole there with a screw in it in the first place.

Much the same way u can get that aftermarket manifold that obviously they dont have they there.

    It is a design fault.......

Different people will have different experiences with vehicle servicing at official Holden dealerships.

It would be very useful if a Holden Dealership Service section/FORUM was set up on this site with sub-section/SUB FORUM for each dealership business.

People could then go to this FORUM and write threads on their experiences with vehicle servicing at specific named dealerships. New dealership names would be added when a member wished to provide a comment on a dealership name not listed.

    FORUM

HOLDEN DEALERSHIPS - VEHICLE SERVICE CENTRES

    SUB FORUM

    XYZ Dealer service centre

    XXX Dealer service centre

    YYY Dealer service centre

    ZZZ Dealer service centre

    etc etc

For one, I would be happy to offer comment on 2 official Holden service centres/dealerships here in Sydney that I have used over a number of years.

If this was done there would be some organised system for people to read the service maintenance experiences of others at particular Holden service dealerships and if a pattern emerges then you gain some idea as to which Holden service centres to avoid for your car servicing in your city or area. As things stand now there are threads spread all over the place on this subject and half the time the dealerships are not named by the writers.

So WHAT ABOUT IT SITE ADMINISTRATOR? Does anyone else think this would be useful?

The dealers will not like this but if they get their act together then they will gain some benefit potentially.

avoid mackays holden service department , walk in state what the exact problem is and what i want done to fix it. was told we have an inspection fee of (around $60-80) and we'll find out whats wrong and tell you...... took a deep breath (try again) told them the exact problem and what i'd already done trying to fix it..... got the same response..... told them to go get me a machanic to talk to explained the situation, no problem he said i pick the car up that afternoon the they've replace the window regulator which i'd stated was bloody new as i'd just had it replaced and thats all they'd done ( forgot to add i asked if they could unblock my drain and check for a strange viabration that was coming from the aircon and random intervals, which they didnt bloody do but claimed they did, pretty sure if they'd unblocked the drain it wouldnt still be pissing out water on my foot) and after all that i go to use the window and it goes down but fails to come back up i go to question them and all i get is sorry sir we're closed..... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr (end rant)
whats the difference between my missus and my blower??
