    Default Lowering my wagon

    Hi everyone,

Have been cruising the forums for a few months now and have finally had an excuse to post!

I'm just about to get my VZ wagon and am looking to lower it. Right now it is on stocks (as it is ex-corporate).

However, I'll be loading up the back and sometimes towing a trailer and I'm worried that if I lower it too much up the back throwing the weight on will kill me, but I don't really want to lower the front and leave the back. I've thought about air bags, but that seems too costly.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Zender

My old VZ wagon has Super Lows and was rubbing the tyres, played around with the guards a little to sort that out and it's all good now.

Its had about 300kg in the back (IKEA shopping spree) and it was alright, I wouldnt be putting much else in it though, I wouldnt be towing a trailer with too much weight either.

Will those airbags also be compatible with lowered springs, or only with stock?

The ride height on that VZ is slick, I'm wondering if adding airbags to that would let me tow a boat for instance? (I don't actually have one, but like to keep the options open)

bah i had my car as low as that, i towed a trailer full of camping gear, food, accessories etc, not exactly light, then had more gear in the back of mine, never had a problem, didnt even sag really, ive got the airbag shocks in mine, but i havnt used them, even when towing a 2t GCM horse float,

i find in interesting you say it scraped, i had mine sitting on bump stop one night car full of people, never once had it scrape

my wagon has ssl's and scrapes up curbs with no weight in it
but you could get rubbers made up to put in your springs, similar to 4wd lifting blocks. basically just a rubber donut.
they aren't off the shelve items though. i got a rubber lining company to make me some up for a small fee.
pretty simple to put them in and out...and you can have the best of both worlds. put them in for towing etc, and take them out for cruising.

Just get a heavy duty set of springs for the back... I had KHRL-46SLHDs in the rear and it barely changed with weight in the car... They're pretty thick springs... And it should get a look like the VZ wagon posted above... Don't get non-heavy duty, they sag heaps with weight... My car has KHRL-46SLs in the rear, and with 3 people in the back it goes from arch tucking a little tyre to tucking rim...

You need Polyair Airbags for the rear springs. The appropriate part number is:

    #12493

To suit: COMMODORE VR, VS, VT, VX, VZ WITH I.R.S. (INCL. STATESMAN & FE2)

You can read all about them here Polyair Springs air bag suspension lift kits
