Hi there,
Yes you can do this with the stock headunit... you have two options:
1) Use a RCA Line Level Converter to convert speaker wire into RCA outputs for the amp
2) Have someone install RCA outputs onto your stock headunit
All you have to do then is a standard sub install using your new RCA outputs (let me know if you need some advice for this).
I have done mine using a RCA line level converter off the rear speaker wire and it works perfectly. Never had any issues in the 3+ years I've had it running.
Hope this helps.
Matt
Hey, I had a line level converter in my car, the rockfod fosgate 360.1 but now got one of phreddy's line output kits and it sound so much better than the 360, and its like 1/3 of the price. I think its the best way to go.
you can keep the standard headdeack though u have to some cord to connect from the amps.. i ended up buying 2x12'' fusion subs in a box with a kenwood head unit.. i found the standard deck stuff up on me cutting out sometimes when changing from radio to CD. kenwood deck works ok.. though strathfield car radio try to rip you off with the cord when keeping it standard.
Just like all these guys Phreddy on the ASR section of the forum is your man. One of the best & most knowledgeable people by far. He's some one your can definately trust. Send him an email, his details are all in the ASR section.
