    Question Brake Screeching =(

    Hi all,

As I come to a stop in my VZ ute, the front right brake really squeels under light brake pressure. The pads are reasonably new and the car was only serviced a month ago.

    Help?

Same here. New rotors and pads and squeeling worse than ever. Is it possible the callipers are ****ed, and are causing the pads to constantly rub?

Ive seen stuff at penrith autobarn called "Brake Quiet" im guessing it would help, it generally depends on the pads, i have a VS Statesman with stock brakes and they dont squeak but my dad has green stuff pads on all of his and they all squeak.

Did the dealership replace the pads/rotors at the service? If so, I'd say take it back and road test it with them.
If not, maybe take it to a brake specialist to get a professional look before you start messing with it.
Last thing you wanna do is do something to it, and then not stop when you need to

alright, what i'll do is get all the wheels off, check the pads, check the rotors for rings, and maybe change the pads if needed

I think it's the pads, but don't worry, just get them checked

mine started squeeking early too, but the brakes were working ok

the only reson I can think of is cuz sometimes my brakes are hot ( just coming from a highway ) and then I drive in some water puddles near my house

when I changed the pads they were all cracked real bad, so I think I'm right ...

remove and clean the back of the pads then apply kwik grip adhesive allow to dry and reinstall . this will stop dust build up between the pad and calipers , check and clean and lube caliper slide pins ???

You serious? How much have you been charged/quoted for machining rotors? My tuner machines rotors for $10 each.

As Wikky said, you're being charged far too much to get your rotors machined if it's cheaper for you to buy new rotors! That seems ridiculous. I get mine done for free at my dad's workshop (dad shares his workshop with a brake and clutch specialist) so I'm lucky, but I'm sure he wouldn't charge anyone more than $10 per rotor for a machining.
