Hello people another newbie here. Well i'm finally looking at getting back into a holden after years of driving 4x4 hilux's. Due to a crook back i no longer can surf so i no longer need a 4x4. I live on acerage so i need a ute but my problem is i have 3 small kids and a single cab ute is out of the question. i drove past a holden dealer today and spotted a 05 crewman storm for sale and i don't mind the look of them. What do you good people think of these rigs, are they really heavy on fuel like i read through the search? Luv to hear your thoughts and help me with this decision.
cheers
they are a lil heftier on fuel than say a sedan or wagon, but they are a very long car for its type with proportional obesity to match,
they arnt a bad car, in some there is a knock in the rear end of them which you think is the diff.. which it is, but as they worked out in the end, the design of the rear end and live axle induced a knock echo, ive heard it in a few, but with normal driving you dont really notice it, and some dont really knock at all,
if you have young kids it is probably ideal, if they are teenagers they might get a lil cramped in the back....if you care,
my neighbour had a storm crewman untill he got a lease car, he loved every bit of it and was his pride and joy

they don't really chew tyres, my old man just replaced his original set after 105,000k's, steering feels pretty nice (i don't like light steering) and it eats up highway travels quite well.
a mate at work has a crewman.
heavy on fuel so he has just gone to LPG at a cost of around $4000.00.
other than fuel issue, has had no problems.
Cheers for your comments. I rang a guy about a storm 05 and he said he would get 550-600kms per tank. Do you reckon this is capable for a crewman? What do you think the best mods would be to do first: K&N filter, high flow cat and 2" exhaust?
Anybody know of a good S or storm for sale in Qld (gold - Sunshine coats area)
im not doubting it, theoretically, if you ran a sedan or wagon at a modest 8Lt/100km, if you drive till it stops you should get 938Km's to the tank
