Default Seatbelt Won't Retract... How do I replace/fix?

Having an issue where my seatbelt has been pulled out too full length and it won't retract at all.

I've taken all the trim off and unbolted the mechanism near the base of the pillar, but I cant seem to get it out of the hole? Any ideas?

If anyones had a similar problem let me know how you fixed it!

    cheers

Do you mean the big retracting metal thing that sits inside the pillar? I basically tilted mine a bit to get it out. Not sure if you mean the same thing though...

    Yeah mate thats it!

I undid the main bolt but couldn't get mine out of the plastic case, no matter which angle i tried... am I missing something or should I pull harder?

Just be very careful when messing about with the set belt retractor. Think you'll find that it may have a pyrotechnic type pre-tensioner that activates when collision is inevitable thus tightening the belt to help protect the wearer. It also causes other safety features to be triggered. On-board computer turns engine and fuel pump off. Unlocks doors. Turns dome lamp on, Hazard flashers are also activated etc ...

Just in case anyone else comes across this thread in the future, a new drivers seatbelt was around $180 from holden, which came with the inertia reel. all fixed now.
