    Default Gas Peddel Lag

I recently replaced my peddel's for the HSV Sport's peddel's in my VZ Exec auto.

Now for the gas peddel the whole unit had to be replaced but after this I now have a lag in the gas peddel response for example just pressing a little on the peddel gives no response press more then it slowly start's to move the car.

Is there a procedure for the gas peddel unit replacement to make it re-learn or do I have to take it to like Holden dealer ship to have it reset.

I just installed a set in my car last month... what you should do -

On your new pedal, therell be a small raised cover on one side (of the main big black box - main assembly thing) with a sticker on it with a barcode etc. Now youll see theres 4 or 5 very small torx screws on there, undo these and the little plastic shield should lift off. You'll notice theres a chip and carbon bits in there so you know you have the right piece!

Do the same to your original pedal.

Now swap the the little covers over, so the new pedal assembly has your old chip thing on the side. Becaused this chip thing seems to be the brain of the pedal and has the resistance settings etc.

Plug her in and with a little bit of luck this should work for you!

I'm in the process of doing this now.

I have taken off the cover with the chip and I have also discovered something else about the the cover it self it appear's to be adjustable ? loosen the screws and the cover will have movement , remove the screws and you can see that adjustment was made for it.

I will loosen the cover on the pedal that is currently in the car now start her up and adjust and see if it makes a difference to the lag or not.

Sorry for not getting back on this.

I was very successfull I didn't need to swap the cover's over at all.

I removed the the sports pedal loosen the screws holding the cover in place moved it far to one side tighten screws and tested the result was a very big lag in the pedal.

Loosen screws again and moved cover to the other side and tested result was zero lag lag was totally gone so I bolted it back in and took it on a test drive and I was extremely happy.

Funny thing too the gear box seems to change better from take off as well.

Id rather just get the car tuned, rather than play around with a few screws. All ur doing is just adjusting the pedal play. In a few months you'll probably have to adjust em again.

Hey Paul a VCM tune does not fix the shitty Electronic throttle that is in the VZ unfortunately. It gives it more grunt down low but the throttle is still crap. The new VE SIDI SV6's are soooo much better in the throttle setup, and they go like stink too.

There is some (very little) adjustment on the potentiometer cover.
It has elongated screw mounting holes.

Had a play with it last night. Twisted the cover as far
    as possible anti-clockwise.
Tranny now kicks down more readily. Or is it just me?
    I'm not afraid.

VT's have a cable controlled throttle setup mate. I wish the VZ's had a damb cable too.

Yes, but on cable throttle setups you adjust at the throttle body where the cable connects.

Though they both seem to be talking about their replacement pedals, but wait i guess both pedals covers have to come off to swap chips which was the first theory. Sounds good enough to me. Break out the tools!!

Well i saw what you guys were talking about, i found the Accelerator pedal worked best if you twisted it all the way to the right and then tightened the screws back up. this is with the whole pedal out in your hands face up. I almost went to undo the whole bracket monstrosity until i realised the pedal itself has two 10mm bolts holding it in, much easier. Yet to go for a drive. Will take her for a cruise when its cooler tonight.
