hey, i have a VZ ALLOYTEC EXECUTIVE. i'm haveing problems starting the engine, it will start but only if i turn the iginition on and remove the engine managment relay, replace it and turn the key. then the SVS, check drive tran, ABS falt and safty mode show on the dash which allows me to cruse at 15kmph. the car has had an ABS falt for about 50000ks and the 60000k service has been showing for the last 40000ks, it has been serviced but i could not remove the dash reminder.
anyone with the same problem?
sounds like its in 'limp home' mode.
didnt give it a thrashing, while it had low oil etc, before this happened?
Only thing i would suggest, which you've probably already done, is disconnect the battery for a few mins, then reconnect it
"And i gave that man directions, even though i didn't even know the way; because thats the kinda guy i am today"
nah no thrashings man, yeah tryed the battery thing too.
send it to a mechanic with a scan tool fella,
your not gunna fix this one easily without one to point you in the direction of the fault

I have changed fuel filters, oil filters, spark plugs, injectors, i always run it on good fuel but yet it still doesnt start good. Has anyone else had this problem, or know how to fix this?
Thanks Gus
Yep I had that problem just recently.....started off how you describe and in the end the car would try and start for a moment die completely and have no power at all, it wouldn't even have lights and when it was being jump started the other vehicle had to rev for longer than usual before mine got enough power to kick over. Even though the battery showed fully charged (12.6 volts) on the multimeter, I took the advice given on another thread here and replaced it with a new one and haven't had a problem starting the car since.
The cause of it all was obvious once we looked at the old battery.....it had dropped 2 cells (such a common and simple cause yet not one person thought of it haha)
So if you haven't already, check your battery.......hopefully its as simple as replacing that![]()

Sorry to steal ya thread but I have a issue with my wagon I dissconnected the battery to stop the check power train code flashen up when I start it as I have fixed that issue but it aint had the scanner on it to clear it was told the bettery will do the same but when I tried to start it after it wont turn over and the engine control relay clicks if the key is in the rite spot they only way it turns over is to short out the starter relay and it turns over but dont fire my mate thinks its to do with the imobiliser says there is two parts to it is there a way that I can check for codes or does it need the scanner to tell me ?
If the immobiliser is the problem, code 31 would be showing. and the car would not turn over. Check fuel and sparks.
As for checking for codes, see 3rd post down in this thread.........
Vz error codes not coming up on computer

Sounds like a lot of battery issues here, i had a dew problems and I replaced battery. Maybe the car isn't getting enough charge to function correctly? After I replaced mine not a problem
Life starts at 200km/h
Can somebody please tell me where the codes show up whan I do the paper clip test thing ?
think its the digital display in your dash between the revs and speedometer dials where you see your fuel per 100km etc, digital speedo, fuel per 100kms etc. Im not 100% sure though so hopefully someone can clarify?
from the instructions on how to bring up the codes......service vehicle soon comes up in digital display I mentioned above so the codes should appear there too.on the cluster screen, it will come up with things like traction control failed, abs fault, service vehicle soon, and so on

i think u hold set and mode, then turn the key to acc, it should come up with a heap of things like coolant temp, ambient temp, battery volts and trouble codes etc
lol na i dont think thats normal. mine says 0 on both... maybe get a tech2 plugged in and checked then
Think it might be time for you to take the vehicle to a workshop equiped to diagnose your problem(s).
