hey, ive got a vz ss 5.7L
the problem started a while back, when the car was cold it would change gears from 1st to 2nd hard like it has a shift kit (which it dosnt) and now it does this when its warm as well
its now starting to change from 2nd to 3rd a bit harder as well when its cold but becomes fine when it warms up.
the gearbox doesnt slip or anything and the problem doesnt bother me that much as im used to cars with shift kits, but is my gearbox on its way out?
is there anything i should do? or just see how it goes and when it breaks rebuild it better?
any help would be great, thanks
Have you changed the gearbox fluid?
ye full service, fluid and filter just recently
i doubt your gearbox is on it's way out..
i have same car as u mate, the boxes are just rubbish..when mine is cold, it changes gears perfectly, so smooth and effortlessly..when it warms up it begins to get notchy. mine also has new fluid and correct levels etc etc.
nothing major but it should feel the same all the time, not chop and change how it feels!!
I am going to try some penrite oil or something a bit better than holden put in them..
I had a similar problem recently with my super6 gearbox it turn out to be a faulty TPS ( throttle position sensor)
thanks guys, ill look into the TPS
let us no if u have any luck with different oils.
thanks
