i was at the diff place the other day and they told me that having the car too low ( ive got sssl in the back) can break your axles.
he was saying as the car gets lower the axles become more horizontal, reducing the play between the diff and the hub.
as you go around a bend they can get too tight and 'unscrew' the housing causing axle damage, breaking.
i definitly do not want to lift my car back up but i dont want to break axles either.
i was wondering if anyone has had this issue or how likely it is to happen?
anyone had any axle or diff problems because of the ride hight?
Never heard of it. and I'm pretty certain it's misleading information.
Never heard of them 'unscrewing' or being damaged from being lowered, or a similar circumstance, the car being overloaded and the suspension compressed heavily.
ye thanks for the info
i didnt think so either but wana make sure of it aha.
any other opinions would be great
the principle is correct,
havnt ever heard of it happening,
only really seen it happen on high hp machines

i have seen this happen with my own eyes haha...
it was in my mates vx exec on ssl's and the axle just completly popped outta the diff housing(after an almighty bang) ...
we had a look and it does look like it is very uncomfortable when the axles are more horizontal.
having said this all of the other irs cars that i know that are lowered have never had an issue at all![]()
