Default headlights always on, extra dash modes

got a mate that just purchased a 04 v6 and it was formerly owned by QR. Apperently all govt vehicles have something changed in them to make the headlights display at all times. has anyone else come accross this and how did you get it changed back.

are there any buttons that you hold down when you start the car like the vx to get the extra modes to display in the dash?

i'm not sure about the first part, may have something to do with a wiring loom or something.

the second part is easy just holden menu and set when turning the ignition on
Chev badges are an instant fail

Yes holden gave the option when purchusing the veichle if you permntly want the lights on as a safety feature. Most fleet and goverment cars got this. I have the actual saefty sheet with my manual can can scan it and pop on site if anyone likes, same thing goes for the ve's. IF you REALLY dont want them turned on all the time you have to take it to a holden dealer and it cost around $60 to disable them.

as far as im aware theres an extra piece of loom in behind the switch
ive never bothered to remove it though

in regards to the extra menus, you hold down menu or both arrows when turning the car on

pull the headlight switch out, there is a bridging wiring loom plugged in there, just unclip it from the switch, unclip it from the dash wiring, than plug the dash wiring into the switch

Just out of curiousity, what is the point of having headlights on all the time? Wouldn't that drain the battery when parked?

Obviously the lights turn off when you switch the ignition off, they won't stay on 24/7.

its a telstra pack option, all telstra cars have the lights on, i guess to make it more visable if its on the side of the road etc

Ok guys i have attached the telstra letter that explanis the headlights. NOW you have 2 options if you want to disable it:

1 = Take it to a Holden dealer for $60 to remove.

    OR

2 = The second pic i have attached is of the actual harness that leaves the headlights on. To disable you must remove the dash fascia, disconnect the light switch, search for this harness and simply disconnect at both end, remove it and then reconnect and replace everything.

    Hope thats better
