thanxs scott
Shouldnt be an issue, as long as it gets fixed strait away after u get back.

Tats cool mate, how bad are the shocks?
I.e. when u push down on the guard how many times does the shock go up n down before it stops?
The Blue One
bout 3 times m8 its weird its like they where fine then i feel all the bumps and banging its pretty annoying to but will do them after christmas

give yourself a bit of extra braking room, rooted shocks believe it or not..affect your braking distance.
Sticking a Chev badge on any Commodore is like putting a Nissan badge on a VL
EOI....VE SS 18" wheels x4 with 5000k's on new tread, 2 of have very minimal gutter rash (previous owner) otherwise like new send me a pm if interested.
you wil be right, mine have been extremely buggered for quite some time and ive only just managed to have them replaced 2 weeks ago.
But yeh now you know their gone you need to have them changed ASAP![]()
You'll be fine mate, just take extra care when ur driving!

There are a couple of things to consider. Are you driving over rough roads on your impending journey? And there is a risk of driving on really clagged shocks - the upper strut mountings will possibly cop a hammering. Have you looked at them to ensure they are up to the job? The steel centre sleeve can tear away from the rubber if the rubber is soft or starting to show cracks, so have a good look around the top mounting bolts at the rubber on both sides of the car. If they appear ok, just keep off the rough stuff during your trip, keep speed down to minimise impact harshness.
If your shockers are as bad as you say then your vehicle is no longer roadworthy. You have a responsibility to ensure the safe condition of your vehicle before you drive it on a road. With the Christmas Road Safety blitzes all around the country you probably have agood chance of being stopped or worse still involved in a collision. Hopefully no innocent party is killed or injured.
i think you guys a getting a lil extreme in some of the descriptions,
yes they need to work properly for properly for proper handling etc, but having worn shocks punching the centre out of the strut top is codswollop, the shock itself never supports the vehicles weight, nor does it control the height,
the shock merely controls the springs oscillations, 3 bounces is normally reguarded as ok,
best way to see if a shock/strut needs replacing, is if its leaking, so you will see an oily residue around the top of the bottom part of the shock, or at the top of the cylinder in a strut,
when you do get the struts done, i recommend you request the strut top and bearings done at the same time, when places replace these, they normally dont replace them, but more often than not, the bearings crack and loose the ball race in them as they are only a plastic bearing shell, and the top collapses causeing a knock in the front end

also thanxs for all the help and advice guys and when im travilling i will allow more breaking room and slow more for turns thanxs again scott
not to take away from the seriousness of the situation because realistically they are stuffed and need replacing as mentioned, but to make you feel easier mine were gone when I did the track day back in January, and even moreso by the skidpan day in October (I wasnt aware they were gone until Sept) The forces it copped didnt cause the strut tops to break away or the strut to explode or anything stupid, and the car copped a fair hiding at both days, it just meant the car was more like the boat to handle, in that it drifted a bit and had alot of body roll, BUT its not like on Xmas day when you get 100 kays into your trip the car will all of a sudden become slack like a baloon with a slow leak.
