Hey im J im new here
ive gota vz sv6 and blew the trany a week b4 xmas
i get my car back tomorow n have a spare $2000 to spend on it
(after paying 3800 to get it bak on the road) to make me happy again
a mate recomended i join here.....
I want to do the exhaust ive been sent to hillside pipes in ftg by a mate
he said 4 2000 ill get pacemakers do the cats n the pipes..
I have no idea about this s#%t so any advice or recomendations on a setup that will sound deep n wont loose power (hopefully gain) would b appreatiated!!! I dont want the exhaust place to "see me coming" n get ripped
Cheerz jai
For $2000 I'd want full stainless with high-flow cats. I thought the VZ SV6s had twin cats and decent flowing pipes already?
Also did you spend $3800 to fix the tranny?? I'd want it to handle way over 500rwhp for that.

The tranny was rebuilt im gettn a cooler put on aswell plus a couple of hoses i needed replacing.. Apparantly the tranny will b stronger than factory... Im doing the exhaust cause im over my car n cant sell it cause i owe too muchhad to get a loan to fix the tranny had a bit left over n my olds slaped me a wod of $ for sympathy... I want to hear my car rumble n more responce/power if possable...
You sohuld be able to get a good set of pacemakers, exhaust and tip for about 1400. Shop around, google some places around melbourne.
I wouldnt change the pipes, personally, and leave the cats, but everyones entitled to their opinion.
Side note, and I know its none of my business, but if you owe a heap already, wouldnt you use the 2k to pay off your loan a little?
I paid my loan off asap before I did any major mods, and it feels a lot better using your hard-earned to make your car better as opposed to using the banks
Im quite depressed bout the whole thing n as i said i need thomething to make me happy when i get in my car its stock instead of ve ssv rims after the zorst im knuckeling down n paying it off... Thats what evry one tells mebut im growing tired of the ol vz.. Time for a change but i cant sell it. So exhaust it is..

what state you in.
I can get the tune pretty cheap apparantly so thats still to come.. I realy want to spend the 2 on an exhaust can anyone recomend somewhere in melbourne i can talk to?
I can supply stainless Hitech extractors, stainless metal hi flow cats and a twin 2 1/4" into single 3" all for under $2k, but you will have to find someone to fit it, or do it yourself. It is all bolt on. You do lose two O2 sensors though, but I can also supply two fittings that have to be welded in to retain them. Without a tune, you will get the power train light if you leave the other sensors out.
Has anyone done there sv6 zorst in melbourne that is 100% happy with the result? If so wher did u get it done? What did u get done? N how much?
Hot dog?? Resinators?? Twin 2 1/2 to 3?? High flow cats??
I forgot to ask:
will there b any problem doing the exhaust while running in a reco transmition??
Got mine from The Muffler Man in Prahran, recommended it to a couple of people, not sure what their outcome was :S
It was a custom built exhaust system, no extractors, just the pacemakers and the system, as well as a stainless steel tip. Tis a 2.5" Exhaust.
Total was $700 fitted. And they guy there is a great bloke so he'll help you out a fair bit.
As for the noise, I'm going back soon to make mine louder, it's more of a roar than the deep V8 sound, so it really comes down to what you prefer. I like it though, for an Alloytec, I've tried a few and this one is the best one yet.
I thought pacemakers were extractors???? Can someone clear that up 4 me i dont know much????

Sorry
Is it really nescessary to change the cats on a car not making any more power then factory?
Depends on what mods you've got.
I had an SS Growler CAI already in my car, as well as my Tune done, so I figured you might get a bit of extra grunt by changing them over.
Sorry for hijacking your thread OP but I have been told by numerous exhuast places (makes me think there telling the truth because they would be losing money) tell me it's a waste of time changing cats on a N/A stock car. To put things in perspective I got a full custom exhaust for my Toyota Soarer cat back high flow cat. 3 inch from turbo to cat then twin 2.5 inch from cat to muffler either side with chrome tips and all mandrel bent for $1700 and I am in mackay. $2k seems way too much for an exhaust.
He's got 2k to spend, doesnt mean he will use the whole 2k
And I see where you're coming from with the whole NA stock car not worrying bout the cats.
If I had my time again, I wouldnt change them, but honestly, its not detrimental to my car, so Im not too fussed.
For an alloytec I think just an exhaust system would do, leave the extractors and the cats, but thats just from my experience, some people may have had different experiences.
In all honesty I would just get some extractors, and the pipes. Holden have been putting very good cats in their cars for years, so unless they are rooted or really old then I'd leave them alone. Besides the SV6s have 2 in them already, way more then enough.
I'd probably get the dual into single system like Not_An_Abba_Fan has suggested, but see if you can listen to a few cars, if you know some people with them, or even go around to a few shops, they should have some like systems on cars in the shop.

N still do zorst mabey from cat back n resinator. mabey hedders 2 ???? But is it worth it??
Doing all this i might b over 2000 but ill get a few things i wanted n for shure ill b luvin my car again n hopefully have a new respect for it!!!!
What do u guys think?
Oh yeah n thanks 4 all the advice n help ur all dudes
peace!
Hmmm..a tyre gone? Not havin a good time with the car?
What's wrong with the CD Player?
In terms of the exhaust, it really depends on what you're after, just the noise, or an actual improvement in power/performance etc. even though you might not get much from just an exhaust
Yeah bro trany went a week b4 xmas. N tyre blew new yrs day... Tranys neva been checked in 5 years n aparantly car yard did it on road worthy n chek tran oil evry time its serviced but the trany specialist says its never been opned.. Im sssoooooooooo pissed off , im going to the ombudsman or legal aid so not happy cause i service evry 10000ks
Time to put some buks into the vz n love it like a new carim smiling jst thinkig bout it
will cat back zorst n resinator improve the note???
Ill do the rest of the zorst when i get more fundage not after power yet.. Ill probley do the rest n get a tune at the same time
the cd played wont accept any disk at all it spits it out n says check disk, time 4 an upgrade
Yeah definitely have a chat to legal aid if you can. Are you an RACV member? If you are, call up 13 RACV and speak to Member and Motoring Services, they deal with lying scumbag dealers everyday, so they'll have some good advice for ya.
Resinator will definitely give it a better note, I'm not sure when mated to a cat-back exhaust. Mine's just got the cat back and it sounds aite, could be better.
The CD Player. Mine's had the same issue. Is the CD's burnt or original? Holden said if they were burnt, it can depend on the type of CD being used. I thought it was a bit outrageous, but I changed to Imation Cd's nonetheless, and never had a problem since, so maybe some merit behind it.
Nah bro ALL CDs dont play i listen to mp3s threw fm transmiter n i hate it![]()
