Question VZ SS 20inch tyre issues

    Hey Guys,

Not sure if this issue has been asked before but can anyone tell me if having 225 tires on 20x8's will look 'odd', because I would really like 245 or at least 235's especially on the back as i have ute and with the standard 235's it happily spins the wheels, but i need to know if i will have any clearance issues...
I currently have the Pedders SportsRyder Sprigs all-round with stock shocks

    Cheers..

there is hardly any difference in traction between identical 225, 235 and 245 tyres.

    To gain traction you can:
    1) get better tyres. If you're spending less then $500 per corner for 20 inch tyres they will be garbage.
    2) get smaller wheels. If you want performance stick to 17 or 18 inch.
    3) stop being a lead foot
    4) lower your tyre pressures. Although it wouldn't be wise on 20 inchs because you will bust a rim on the next pot hole you come across.
    5) get better shocks

I have 20" wheels on my VZ SS - it's got Kings low springs in it, it's running 235/30/20 tyres at the front (without any scraping issues, but couldn't go wider to 245 at the front), and i'm running 245/30/20 tyres on the rear..

It had before that 225/35/20's all around are they weren't a problem either, except i wanted some better quality/wider tyres so went the 235 & 245 combo.

My rims are 20 x 8.5", 225's should be fine on your 8 inch rims, 225's on my 8.5" were a bit thin.

Hope that helps lol, oh and the guards had to be rolled of course.

    I disagree..

$500 for a tyre is ****ing ridiculous. I paid $380 a corner for my Continetnal ContiSport 2 tyres and they are awesome. They are 245/30/20's.

Never run a lower pressure than about 40 psi with 20's.

Cheers guys... maybe 19inch 245's are the way to go.. That way I think i would still get a balance between show and performance instead of just show because I luv the look of 20's but im not happy putting 225's on, which are thinner then my standard wheels lol... and a 3cm tyre wall for 235's is getting to be a bit too thin... Thanks for the replies guys

I agree 19"s suit the VZ's......... 20"s are a lil o****ill and shout "total tool". - Just my opinion. I generally pay bout $550 per 2 tyres for 19's...... Traction AA.

I've 245/30/20's on my VZ SS with king springs lows in it.. and it scrubs if i give it the boot, apart from that it doesn't :P unless i've 4 people in the car.. then it scrubs at the back completely..

price you pay for 20's n lowered
