So im monkeying around with my VZ V6 and i would like to hear of anything to avoid be it mods or products. Input is muchly appreciated.
Cheers

I bought a set of DRL's for my VZ, like the one's on the new E-Series 2 HSV.
Cost me 110 shipped from China.
Lucky I photoshopped them before I tried it, would have had to get rid of the fogs, prolly get an Exec front bumper to make them look good.
Prolly put em on the Astra instead of having them lying around.
my wife brought a VZ that was bad enough
If its got Wheels or Boobs its gonna cost ya money
i bought an sv6 vz not long ago.. long story short. when i bought it it had, twin 2 1/2 xforce exhaust system with 2 sets of cats. got pacies put on and a set of cats taken off, now only 1 on each pipe.
result sounds like a tin can under heavy acceleration even with a big heavily packed resonator/muffler at the back. frign annoyin the sh$# out of me!
Id read up on these forums before you go putting a sports exhaust on, to find a good system to install. Although i have a vy myself, everything i read about vz v6 exhausts is they arent always sounding that good
yep sounded good before pacies and cats off...now however is a different story!!!![]()
Same^^ Although mine only sounds shit for the first 5mins of driving, after the exhaust heats up, it sounds fine...

does buying it count?
really should have gone with a v8
Chev badges are an instant fail
Cash flow said no
Worst mod I ever made was buying it for sure. Got a VZ SV6 when i could have got a VY SS. Regretted it ever since, not for long though![]()
I tried a twin 2.5" xforce exhaust after i added pacers/racing 150 cell hi-flows (still sitting in my garage after 8 months brand new) - Then I tried to silence it.......... $$$ ..... POS. Removed it obviously

my mate has a straight pipe through his vz v6 exhaust, midas did it for $360 at first it sounded shit and while i wasd following him back from midas my car got covered in black soot but after it broke in it started sounding good the only problem with that is it aparrantley looses a few kw i dont know cause i know nothing about exhausts (find out more info before you try this)
1. Avoid ANY Intake CAI's or any "replacement" airbox intake systems........ Just do the 2 hole mod and get a K&N Filter.... and be done with it.
2. Avoid what is cheap........ thats a general principal with any car. Cheap Exhaust = CRAP. Cheap Tyres = CRAP. Cheap Rims = Buckle.... CRAP.
It's important to take the time, review, research...... plan and spent the $$$ on good stuff.
PS. I'll join the ......... should of bought a V8 group here.

^^ Couldn't agree more, don't cheap out on anything car related, as it will end up costing you more in the end..

I'm on the "should've got a V8" bandwagon as well. I was going to shell out and mod my SV6 but wtf for when in the end all I want is an SS. Hence, I'm quite liking the idea of an SS Sportwagon.
The title of this should read "Why the f**k didn't I buy a v8".
got it tuned from a wa tuner whos name i wont mention here. She lost power rather than gain it
Buying it .
If u have a alloytec do not change the exhaust lol waste of money.. Hence why I have the SS now..
Give it a few days.... see how it goes as it normally takes a few drives for it to settle in. Unforunately so I've discovered after tuning forever........ the tuners commonly drop 2 degree's of spark around WOT (automatically makes it slower) they do that to prevent knocking etc....... but really it's a power reduction.
They up overall engine torque to 100% from stock 68 ......... which is great, BUT...... it seems to bring on more knock = less timing = slower.

I'm gunna actually revert 100% back to my stock tune shortly and see what effect my pacers, cats and 100% exhaust change, diff, insulator and k&N air filter with the 2 hole mod has effected it against the stock tune.
-=-
I think mods really do in tuned cases cause drama's....... Most places that tune the alloytechs only run up the dyno at WOT to smooth fuel and knock slightly..... maybe the place u went to didn't, perhaps they just changed it and dyno'd the result as is?
