    Default Oil change?

I know this is a dumb question but where abouts and how do you change the oil filter on the alloytec motors? I've been told it's a cartridge type filter. My father in law wants an oil change done on it tomorrow.

I can pretty much strip an ecotec motor but don't have any experience with the Alloytec yet.

Take the right hand side cover off & you see a cylindrical shaped part about 2.5in in diameter. Thats where ur oil filter sits, use a 24mm socket to undo top.

The oil drain plug is easily accessible from underneath the car at the front, as soon as u look underneath the front bar you'll see the plug, use a 13mm socket to undo.

I gather that oil changes are about the only thing that is simple in the Alloytech, compared to Ecotec's.

From what I have read/heard, plug swaps are a pain and thermostats are worse.

Think I'll stick to the ol' Eco.

Plug swaps are a piece of piss, did mine today in an hour, two bolts on the coil pack and slide it up, swap plug from there, upper intake manifold is 5 bolts, how much easier can it be.

Water pump is also a piece of cake, chuck an extension in to loosen the tensioner and move the belt, unbolt a few bolts, pump out and repeat in reverse to install!

Dont forget with the plugs your only doing them every 120 000 kays.

Thermostat is the only thing i've heard is an issue.

Whats the problem with the thermostat change? Surely it can't be more annoying than on the s/c 6.
