Hi all i have a VZ Berlina (V6) and recently noticed that when my speedo says 100km/h i am really only doing about 95km/h. 110km/h = 105km/h etc. Is there a way to calibrate the speedo without taking it somewhere?
The car has VE Stato rims on it and when i asked about calibration i was told it was all ok.
I heard somewhere (more than likely this site) that there is somewhere in the settings to change tyre size etc. I just wanna check to see if the right size has been programmed in. I found the adjustment for the odo but nothing for tyre size.
Any help appreciated
cheers
steve
EDIT: am running 235/40R18 tyres

By changing your profile you've altered the running circumference making the error worse.
I had a lower profile tyres given to me that I put on my 17" Calais standard rims and when the speedo was reading 100km/h the GPS showed 96. Replaced those tires with the standard profile Potenza Adrenalins and now 100km/h on the speedo registers 100-101 on the GPS. Very happy.
P.S. In the menu screen you can adjust the odometer reading but NOT the speedometer.
so basically the dealer did a shit job of things by not calibrating the speedo properly?
i guess that is a pretty obvious answer.
thanks for the info

And yes, having low profiles and bigger rims can and will chuck out your speedo, as will having it Tuned. There is a lot of controversy surrounding that with speeding fines. I know people who have successfully used that as their defence to get off a fine.
As for me, I know mine's 3km/h out, and my analogue is 5km/h out. So just need to factor it in whilst driving. I don't think its worth taking it to Holden and re-calibrating.
unless you know someone with a tech 2 handy.
Im curious about the odo reading adjustment via the menu without VDO tools ...
Mate i would suggest taking it to Ultra Tune for the calibration on the Tech2 gear. My local shop is brilliant! I havnt had them do anything mechanical for me but for Tech2 work they are cheap, quick and know what they are doing!
Also i hate my local holden, bunch of wankers! Over charge and no clue! They said 150 to clear an SRS fault where as Ultra Tune did for 20 bucks!
Hope that helps.
With regards to my comment about adusting the odometer - see PDF attachment from the VZ Owner's Handbook..
Apparently, the menu for 'Enter Calibration Adjustment' only relates to the 'triple-window' dash cluster as fitted in Calais & the like. That allows you to adjust distance calibration and fuel calibration.
^^^He's right.
I remember reading this in my WL user guide. I got it when i had the WL cluster installed.
