    Default Coolant change SV6

    Hi,
I have a Sept 04 build SV6 and noticed my coolant is due for replacement about 6 months ago. Does anyone know the drainage plugs in the engine block which can be removed to flush out the old coolant. Does the thermostat have to be removed or any other bits and pieces? Any proven procedure would be very helpful. Thanks

Take your car to a cooling professional. They have cleverly designed equipment that connects to your cooling system (whilst still in the car) that will purge the system of old coolant and replace it with (your choice) of suitable replacement. You won't even need to get your hands dirty. A more efficient way of doing it than trying at home without suitable equipment. Good luck with it.

    Thanks for the advice Benboy
Took it to the Holden dealer and got the "good" coolant. Must admit it was a lot easier this way.

This is wat i did over a year ago. No overheating issue's to date. If you have the know how ten go do it.

Not 100% sure where the drain plug on the engine is but the one i opened was at the bottom of the radiator. After that i just ran the hose through it until i saw clear water coming out.

and thats all I do before track days, skidpan etc except going off the workshop instructions which are slightly different, but esentially the same.

Although it doesnt hurt to have it flushed properly because you cant really do much at home by yourself except drain the coolant from the tank and radiator

    Hi PaulSV6
The dealer came out all up $125. The coolant was about $65. With the Brizzie weather around the 30+ lately, it was very convenient to pass the job on.

um as far as i know i dont think so....but i dont know much haha.

i simply ran nulon radiator flush through the system and then drained it out of the bottom hose. reverse flushed the radiator and then hooked everything up and refilled it with nulon long life red coolant.
