Hi all
I heard on the news this morning that Holden is going to stop making the Holden Monaro at the end of this week...(29 July 2005)..Is this correct?![]()
holden have made an announcement that they have done well with the monaro and that they wanna go out on a bang so they will be releasing a special edition monaro cv8 so yeah unfortunatly its true![]()
Yeah i saw the article on the web. However Holden will be bringing out the Monaro CV8-Z which is a limited edition. Would love to know what extras you get. I heard different rims and sunroof.
My feelings are it won't be an end to Monaro, Holden are just winding down production of the current Commodore/Monaro platform. All focus is on the new VE Commodore due out mid next year, but don't expect to see a VE deriative of Monaro, this is still a little way away, late 2007? maybe? PLEASE? heh Holden will want all coverage on the VE Commodore when it is released. The last couple issues of Wheels (including the August edition) have been chocca with info.
Back in the hope things have settled down...
Yep I heard a heard the same thing yesterday.
I wonder if the will number the cars seeing they are only making 1200 (Which is still alot for a Limited edition). Does anyone know?![]()
Of course they will, it's called a VIN !Originally Posted by VZMonaroMan
Yep, agreed, marketing are getting the market (journos / media / public) looking for the VE ... and, yep, late 2007 will be the 'new' 'monaro' which more than likely will be a 'torana' with a panel van version called a sandman ... yep, time for some retro!Originally Posted by fourstar82
I'd give anything for a retro fuel gauge although I'm not sure if we have to go back to the graduated piece of dowel to get one that works.
I'm sure you are right about GM concentrating on the VE. They don't give a **** about VZ owners. Would be wise if they did because this is one VZ owner who won't be becoming a VE or VF or anything else for that matter. (maybe except for VPissedOff).
"All Good Things must Come 2 a End". Monaro cv8 vz is now finished but im sure the ve monaro will be made unless holdens has decided other wise, i didn't see the news about the Monaro but lets all wait and see, nothing compares too the old school monaro of the 60's 70s.![]()
Cheers.![]()

This is interesting because GM hasn't announced any plans to eliminate the Pontiac GTO (LHD Monaro w/LS1) here in the states, unless of course they're actually just moving it towards their universal platform with different skins on top. Can't wait till they get a commodore in the us here, or atleast a holden-chev lumina
Yep this is the last Monaro, the CV8Z, it looks sick but its sad that it has to end.
Parents just purchased one of these cars, has only 133km on the clock after driving it around a little. Has all extras, and is a magnificent car!
Hopefully fuel prices will drop soon, as this 5.7L v8 is going to be drinking the stuff!
We have custom number plates on the way, so it'll match the car better, should be here within a few weeks!
