hey guys, im running my commodore alloytec 3.6l v6 with a mace cold air intake and a 2.5" Walker Single Exhaust. PWR mode is always on.
these past few days now ive noticed if i floor it really hard the engine jumps but doesnt change gear properly and it doesnt pick up speed and just keeps over-revving. it never used to do this.
what is wrong???

I'd get the tranny checked out mate, doesn't sound right...
Auto Id assume, being an Exec. Sounds like you may have 'floored it' one too many times, and now the transmission's probably had enough. Best get it checked out before it completely gives up on you.
im in sydney, where do you reckon i should take it?
holden dealership?

Have you checked your transmission fluid level?
nope i havent, cud that b a problem?

If its a 5 speed auto then you got no chance of checking the oil level.....
Yeah man, tranny fluid can be a problem. Check it in park running, the red flip to dipstick on the drivers side of the engine bay. For starters the stick has all the info on it you need but refer your owners manual if you need to, also if the fluid is a brownie color you have prob burnt it. Either way, if its not under warranty id avoid a dealer, transmission problems shoud really go to a transmission specialist.
With the PWR switch engaged, it does NOT enable the car to produce additional power, it simply changes the shift points of the transmission - the gears change a little earlier. Sounds like you've over-cooked the tranny. Go to an Auto Trans specialist for detailed advice and quote.
why do you drive around with the PWR button on ??
just curious, get it checked by a tranny profesional

+2... I also think it makes it a good laugh. Some toolbag who blurts out random garbage to make it sound like he knows what he is talking about. Almost every post has the word "tune" in it. I love the thread where the guy has low coolant and bigdaddyfool jumps on and says it must be the tune that is causing his temp to rise.Classic!
To the OP, you should really should familiarise yourself with checking your fluid levels. Its one of the most basic things when owning a car. Its all described in your holden manual and could save you a whole bunch of hastle and money should something run dry (low).Low oil in your transmission could be your problem. I would check that first, well before checking your cold air intake. hahahhaha
haha alright thanks mate, ill get right on it now and post up my results

Any maybe just ease off the hard throttle at every lights lol. A full trans rebuild will cost as much a decent 2nd hand car, especially if you want the same trans box brand new.
just get a second hand one, you'll get a decent one off ebay for $500 ... and have fun puting it in![]()
umm pay me out all you want, try it see if it works.......... then come pay me out.
Pod filters are nitorous for locking the engine preventing it from changing gear due to the swirl effect of the air. Like all cars, there are certain conditions from which a engine wont change until it is safe to do so.
$650+ for a used tranny, 30 mins removing the cai and putting the stock airbox in........ and trying it. One costs you nothing, the other costs u $$$, upto you.
PS. Electrical faults will also do this, the gearbox is picky on these cars with the electrics.

try it Henry and let us know how it goes.
Hope its something stupid![]()
lol id love to see how air will "lock" the motor as you say,
turbulance in the air flow is what you want anyway, cause if its swirling going into the cylinder and mixes with the fuel better and flow around the cylinder and allows for better volumetric effiency,
hence why you see alot of diesel truck getting around with the snorkle on the back of the cabs with the lil round things with a half turned piece of plastic in the middle of it, hinos use that setup on most of their new trucks

should i still try n put the stock back? id have to find it though. my car was stolen back in june last yr, n nrma told me there was a problem with the gearbox and the smash repairer would take care of it as it was apparently undriveable when they found it. it was a lifetime guarantee. i called nrma today and they told me to take it back to the smash repairer n see what they say. as before the car was stolen the gearbox was insanely smooth, after the repair when i got it back, on every 2nd gear change it wud make like a GLUNK noise as if the gear was falling out or something??? ill try take the car in tommorow or tuesday and see what i can do about it
