Question Difference between VZ and VE Alloytec 190

    G'Day all...

If the VZ and VE SV6s both run the same engine (alloytec 190), and the VZ runs 190Kw, and the VE 195Kw, what's teh difference between the engines? Is it possible to get the VZ varient running at VE spec without major modification. I figured this'd have to be a very simple mod that any Holden dealership could? Just put in the VE softwear?

    Cheers

There's differences in how the tunes are setup, but u can "port" the VE gear into a VZ setup and change most axes to match......

As for actual part differences, I'm not entirely sure...... but i'd say they are pretty similar probably. Someone else can eloborate on that.

ve spec have different timing chain setups, different cam sensors (my06 vz is the same as ve), better vvt actuators i think, not to much to see, but internally a lil bit different

Not to mention, throttle calibration on the VE's is much better.

Or is that for VZ's aswell?
The SIDI isnt an Alloytec engine anymore, I believe. But dont quote me on that.

The SIDI is teh same block underneath, but everything else is different; pistons, cams, heads, injectors, throttlebody etc. Inquired with Holden

For anyone curious, th eofficial Holden line is that it is 'not just one part change, but a variety of diffferences' , and they do not suggest altering the ECU.......
Meh, Headers, cats, cold air intake, racing filter,. intake manifold insulator and a VCM tune should help..

So would you say your better off buying an 06 VZ than an 05 VZ to get the new setup for a grand or 2 difference ? Is there any problems with the early 04-05 versions?

You cant use the VE software on a VZ more then likely, but whether you can copy the VE tune settings into a VZ is another story but I dont think thats possible either.

I've found they have diff rev intervals on the VE Tune with reguards to the cams that doesn't seem to take with a VZ for some reason.

I've tried converting the VE Omega tune to the VZ....... but the cam settings seem to cause the car to pulsate power wise when in the various new cam rev zones the vz's dont have.

    -=-

So I guess the answer is probably 'no'. Just get the car tuned.
