i was looking for a while now at getting my car dyno-tuned but now ive heard of the power-chip increasing vz commodores up to 192kw. was just wondering what would be the better option? average on a dyno is $900 from what ive been quoted and the power chip is $890 so not a major price difference. which will be more effective?

I laughed at the tables at the bottom of the document. So your car stalls at 1000rpm, beautiful.

Those charts are bullshit! Unless they removed an Alloytec and placed it on an engine dyno there is NO WAY they could tell engine power output accurately. Dont be fooled.
Ebay power chip - stay clear... Tunes arent worth the $$

Of course they will tell you it's good and it works etc, they aren't your friend, they are a business remember, a businesses prime focus is to make money. It's just a shame that some businesses make money of stooging people.
I was gonna go mail order Mafless, but **** that, i'm gonna save for a real time Mafless instead (dyno). That way, it's tuned to how YOUR individual car runs etc. Not all VZ's run EXACTLY the same. Most flash tunes are made off how ONE VZ they used runs. Which may not be ideal for EVERYONE's VZ.

lol i didnt even realise that, shit your right!
so im assuming everyones more in favour of dyno-tuning. i know castle hill exhaust does it, i spoke to them.
also just FYI any of the members who were following my thread about the over-rev when flooring my accelerator, i found out the problem. i took it to exhaust shop, the left catalytic converter was DEAD! and only the right was working. thats why i was loosing the power and not being able to gain speed when i was giving it power.

i was looking at this tune offer a while ago, but didnt like the statement "Although it is highly unlikely that this tune should cause any damage to your vehicle we take no responsibility for any damage caused as the result of its use".
usually tuners modify the tune and still remain in safe levels right?

hmmm wow, i am glad i aint gunna go through these guys now, it kinda sounds a lil shady i guess... but i had been emailing them through ebay they sounded like were legit.
one would think there would stay within safe levels.
If you want to stay well within the safety limits then leave the stock tune in there. If you want to chase power then you take risks. Go to any dyno operator, safe bet that they will make you sign a declaration stating they are not responsible for any damage to your car.

what are my other options then for safely increasing power and decreasing fuel consumption
HSV Clubsport VZ Body Conversion - Mace CAI - 2.5" Walker Single Catback - Red Neons - Custom Dash
More power and less fuel is not really possible. A lot of people will disagree with me and I accept that, but in saying so, if you put more power to the floor then you will use more fuel. Now 99% of the time you will probably be driving normally and with the right mods you may well use slightly less fuel, but it will likely be marginal at best.
Now there are quite a few ways to get more power without using more fuel. By all means get a tune done but maybe get some bolt-on mods done first. Tune is generally the last thing someone does. Start with the normal stuff, extractors, exhaust, CAI, diff gears, etc.

Geez, a mail order tune is a great thing (though $890 is steep) as its normaly half the price or less of dyno tuning, yes dyno tuning is the most accurate way of getting 100% preformace though you pay$$$$$$$$ for it mail order gives you less accuracy but still you pay for what you get anyone who says that all M/O`s are no good at all I`d say just depends on the person you buy from almost everyone can vouch for greenfoams tunes there mail orders aren`t they.
To the OP $890 for a M/O or $900 for a Dyno tune = no contest!
