    Default VT/VY/VZ Gearbox

    hey all

does anyone know if there is any difference between a VZ 4L60E and those that went before it, say VT/VX/VY??

I'm mainly after a replacement valve body due to a shift kit that's been playing up. I just want to unplug the old one and plus the replacement one in.

I know the VZs supposedly had differences in the VZ, not sure if it was the valve body or not.

Fairly certain it's the same 'ol hunk-a-junk it's always been.

Some VZ models had the 4L65E (stronger version of the 60E), and others had the 5-speed 5L40E, but for the 4L60E's out there most parts ought be interchangeable. If in doubt, ask a tranny specialist (as in transmission shop, not TVR).

well we're going to find out on the weekend as Ive lined up a VX or VY gearbox to grab a valve body from.

No one can give me a straight answer on whether the valve bodys changed, or even what changed on say VY to VZ 4L60E

If I was to ask for shift solenoids they only seem to list VS on, they dont seem to stop at VY and have a new solenoid for VZ which indicates either all the listings are old and dont include VZ, or their all the same still, which means same plug, same pressure, same same!

Shift kits suit VT->VZ, so you'd imagine the valve body are the same anyway.

Keep in mind Im changing the valve body here, NOT any internals up in the box which is where I suspect the "differences" are that supposidly made the VZ smoother shift. One guy has a note about going FROM a VZ to VT/VX/VY box that the ECU needs to have a VZ flash due to different shift points.

So anyway if anyones curious I'm about to find out. I'll post my findings.
