Ignition Barrel Part No.

Sorry guys if this is a waste of 'thread' space.. but if you are following I have had a bit of an Ignition issue with my car. Its a 05 VZ Calais.(V6). The problem was that the ign. barrel had got stuck and woundnt let me turn the key.

The local Holden dealer took a look at it and suggest that I get a replacement.
Now comes the problem.. the dealer here (in Fiji), says that the ign. barrel that they have sourced is a aftermarket one and NOT a genuine Holden item.

I had no other choice. but to let them order it from Aus. and just today (17/02) they replaced it after a wait of 3 weeks.

This leaves with me a bit of a problemo.. I now have to carry 2 keys with me.. One for the new ign. barrel (which is used to start the car), and the other one for manually opening the doors (since the door locks havent been changed).

So.. does any good soul out there know what is the part no. for the original ign. barrel that Holden produces for my car.. and where can I order it from.. also.. any other info. that could help me in solving this..

92172018 is the Holden p/n. It has been hard to get at times lately but you shouldn't have too much trouble locating one. The barrel will come uncoded so you either have to code it yourself to your original key, if you are good at doing that stuff, or get a locksmith to do it.

Thanks Mate!! .. What is need to code the key my self?? Will I need a Tech2 ??
