    Default Oil Pressure Switch Change

Wondering how to change the Oil pressure switch on a VZ V6, i have been told it is below the oil filter somewhere and requires a special tool. Can anyone further my knowledge.

Pics/How To would be great.. otherwise i will try and get one done!

Best to buy one & get fitted at dealer , cost around $150 to $180 all up . They are fiddly to get at & need a special tube spanner to remove/fit without damaging them .

i can only forecast holden being a rip off as they are with anything else, i would like to have a go myself at replacing it..

im guessing it really cant be too fiddly, by socket would a deep throat sparkplug socket and extension bar reach it?

visualising in the back of my head atm, its at the bottom of the canister on either directly on the front or the back, you cant really miss it, has 2 wire plug i believe and the pressure switch would be about 20-24mm

Sorry for bringing up an old thread but,
my commy had the SVS reminder come every time i stopped at the lights today (10 times lol).
When i got home i had a look at the oil pressure sensor under the oil cartridge and found that the two wires going into the sensor were exposed and starting to come appart and pull out.
    I know thats the problem.
My question is what part am i after the hole sensor assembly or just the back part of it. If you can get it in parts.
    Cheers fellas

you just need the pressure sensor, as for a special tool forget about it i used a shifter worked fine, hardley any oil comes out, they cost about $75 from holden have done this twice its an easy fix and there is no need to put a teck2 onto it to remove warning message it goes away bye it self some times you hve to start the car twice it's easy.

The sensor isnt what worries me on it, I read his post a few times, sounds like the wiring going to it are screwed, which is why I would like a photo to confirm it. If he is lucky I am just reading too much into it. If not it could cost more unless he is really good at soldering.

If the wires going into the connector that plugs into the sensor are the issue you can just repair the wiring by soldering it, if they have come out of the connector itself you may need to replace the connector.

I'll post pics 2moz, To dark atm.
Going on Ricey comments i think he's on the money. When i had a little fiddle at the sensor, i got a little spark from the back of the sensor(at the wires). My bad didnt unplug battery. So theres my prob.
The wires also bend a hard 90 degrees b4 they enter the sensor. So im thinking the wire is on the verge of snapping because its frayed.

    Cheers guys

    Here's a pic.
There's a slight bit of oil at the back of the sensor and on the wires.
Might just replace the whole thing. And tie up the wires so there's no tension pulling down at the sensorOil Pressure Switch Change-31082011193.jpg

Its common for the sensor to leak oil when it fails so Id replace both the sensor and the connector that plugs into it.

I would try strip and resolder the wires before replacing the entire thing.
Turn off the car, unplug the battery hit the entire area with carby cleaner (or similar to clean up the oil and crap from the area, have a good look for any exposed wires.
If your lucky you can cut it off around 1-2mm from the plug and strip it back there. If not you will need to get creative with the soldering iron to solder it at the base of the plug.
Failing that buy a cheap one from the wreckers give yourself around 40-50mm of wiring when you buy it from them.
Then just work from there. Honestly there isnt much to the plug in the way of wiring. 2 wires, nothing fancy. 10mins to do a half decent job. Maybe 30mins if you want to do a good job of soldering it, making it water proof and taping it back up.
