Default installing a sub and amp

hey all, just got myself a explod' sub and 800 wat amp

now being the first time i'm actually having a set being put in one of my cars, i'm a little stuck as to what i can do.

Can it all run through the stock cd player system? can i run the speakers through the amp as well as the sub?

(yes, i've searched for a thread like this first, but i've found nothing specific to my problem)

    Hey,

Yes, you can run it all of the stock sound system if you like. You will need to buy something called an RCA line level converter which converts speaker wire into RCA outputs you can use to plug into the amp.

Once you have that, you've got a pretty standard sub install on your hands.

if you do the RCA high low converter as mattsv6 says you will have to run another amp to power your speakers, or alternately just piggy back it where it connects to your speakers anyway.

no u wont, i run a sub seperate from my speakers, got line converter to low levals, ran the whole sub of back left speaker, u will be satisfied with it, only need an amp for the sub, the speakers have a built in amp in the stock deck, if u just peal the plastic off on of your rear speakers u can run sub off it & im overly satisfied with suprised how well it works, before u tune your sub make sure u set the stock deck at 0 on bass & then u can play from there

Chances are that 800w amp is a monoblock amp, 1 channel suitable for sub woofers only. You will need a 4 or 2 channel amp to power your speakers.
Can be run of stock h/u, contact Phreddy, the sponsor on this forum he will hook you up with LOC for your stock head unit.

    Good luck mate.

mine is 4 channel & i just run my amp, 4 ohm amp just run 2 ohms & run 500rms constantly, u wont need an loc for ur head unit, just run power from bat to amp, run wire off ur rear left & plug to low leval output split & to sub ur fine, mine is fine

Yeah you could do that if you wanted to just wanted to get the sub running.
Or you could speak to a guy on hear called 'preddy' and get him to modify your headunit internally and get higher quality rca outs.
He also does AUX in if your interested, so he is worth speaking to

oh yeah saw another JC member with that set up for his ipod- its awesome , i'll definately be doing that.

and as for the speakers- if it wont fit, its alright, i'll just run the amp to just the sub

Personally I'd recommend an aftermarket headunit.... grab yourself a Kenwood or something...... USB ..... 3 RCA outs etc.... future proof any upgrades you wanna do by getting a good headunit to start with.

I changed my headunit 4 times since I got my car til I found one I liked that worked with my two amps etc. One thing I'll say..... make sure u really sand down the ground spot for your amp... cause these cars really arnt that "earthy" compared to older cars..... gotta sand down that paint good wherever your earth is.
