Default VY mirrors compatible?

I've come across someone whose selling VY electric mirrors, the whole thing - cover, glass, motor etc.

He said there for the VY range and because of this he wont guarantee me they'll fit the VZ because he has yet to try it himself.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows if they will fit? They look the same but are they?

The reason I'm asking is because I want to change the stock standard black ones on our Adventra SX6 (base model) with the semi-body coloured mirrors like on our SV6, and this bloke said he can sell me both mirrors, complete units and have them painted, with the exception that hes never sold them to anyone whose put them onto VZ's.

Yes they will fit onto VZ. However just make sure the VY mirrors are suitable for Executive/Acclaim/Berlina commodores because the Calais and Caprice mirrors have different wiring. (SX6 is the equivalent of an Acclaim)

Why would the wiring be different in Calais and Statesman models?, and why is there a difference between those electric mirrors and the ones of a Berlina?, just curious.

Basically the calais/caprice mirrors tilt down when u put it in reverse, in order to see the kerb. It does this automatically but isnt available on the lower range commodores. The wiring plug is the same size but the mirror wouldnt work properly.

Adventra LX6 Executive
Default LX6 and Calais

The Adventra LX6 and Calais have heated mirrors so there would also be extra wiring for that as well

nah these are just stock standard mirrors, no tilt, no heat, just electronic moving (but our VS Exec also had this so I figure its a stock standard feature now to be able to electronically move the mirror) and are the Executive/Acclaim/Berlina mirrors!

ok i know i am resurrecting this thread but i thought that would be better than making another thread.

i just wanted to know if the vz mirrors are put on the same as the vt/vx. i believe for the vt/vx you just rip the black cover off and then take out three screws and disconnect the wire--is that right?. reason i ask is cause i might have banged a wing mirror into a pole on a vz that isnt mine

it didnt break the mirror only the plastic is a bit smashed. i found this on ebay but it isnt genuine so i assume its rubbish--does anyone know by any chance? oh the car is a an exec by the way http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-ELECTRIC-...QQcmdZViewItem

i figure the best way to fix the problem is to buy a new mirror from holden and just put it on. would that be right (and cheapest)?

thanks for your help!
