lets say i wanted to drop my vz, is there more to it than fitting springs? or are a new set of shocks a must?
prob a stupid question but eh.
How much lower are you wanting to go? Are you going to be buying an adjustable camber kit also?
nothin to low, i dont wanna lose my muffler over a speed hump. but low enough to look cool.
My old VZ which now the ex hubby has has SSL's in it with the original shocks and has had no dramas at all![]()
did he have SSL's in both the front and rear?
and also, what size wheels did he have?
Ahh will have to double check with the rears, pretty sure they are HD SSL's
He has 17" rims. Here's a pic just after lowering it, it has dropped a bit since then.

Ah, i was thinking of SL's on the front and SSL's on the rear but with 20's.
Do you think that would be an uncomfortable drive?
lowering with 20s will be a little uncomfortable coming from stock, yes.

so 19's are the go?
The wheels i plan on buying for it are the VE GTS.
Hmm prolly lol but then I'm pretty used to driving lowered cars where you can notice the smallest pebble on the road lol. You get used to it and a nice low car with 20's is worth losing comfort for!
With the 17's he had to slightly roll the guard coz the tyres were rubbing a little (you'll be able to feel it under the guard there's a slight lip) the only scraping now is the mud flaps that he refuses to remove and on the crap speed bumps a little exhaust, nothing major. So you may have to have a little play, but do a bit of a search on here, you'll be able to find heaps of threads on lowered VZ's with the same set up as your wanting.
Alright thanks, yeah i'm used to the slow speed over the bumps after riding shotgun in my mates VL for a long time.
Mud flaps are coming off mine tomorrow though
Do you think that SL's - Front / SSL's - Rear will be illegally low? I know the attention from the boys in blue will increase a thousandfold but it's worth the look
Red P's don't help too much either haha.
Where are you planning to buy them from?

thats no to bad. i can still back out of my drive way without grinding my frnt bumper.
im not sure yet.i just started looking. any ideas? and what am i looking at for price ya recon?
Price would be set around the 2k mark..
that's including tyres.
Tempe Tyres in NSW is where i'll be heading, then going to Pedders in Brookvale for the springs..
lower it more than 50mm and u can't rego it in NSW anymore. and if the cops engineers get u on a cruise or something they throw 4 people in the car then measure light height then book the shit outa you. lower 30mm with 20's and you don't have to change shocks. lower 50 -60mm and don't change shocks and the car will throw out back springs on tight negative G's coners - get a live axle or new shocks
Making and running DUAL CHIPPED ECU SINCE 2010
No, get 20s, just don't expect the world's nicest ride.
I think you might be playing that up a little man, remember wagons are live axle. I've only ever dropped a spring out ONCE and that was a SSSL rear in a VX clubsport with stock shocks.

K just checked with the ex hubby and he has Pedder's Ultra lows all round in the wagon I posted above with original shocks, the springs he actually has in the car are from a Monaro and he had to put a 10mm spacer in the rear coz it was too low, no dramas with the std shocks but the rears have worn out a bit, so he said changing the rears would be worth it while your there. He recons its quite a comfy ride comparing the the VT we had with SSL's & gas shocks in it.
you still talk to your ex? sorry im getting off topic.
thanks kikki.
LMAO yeah we're good mates, he's like my best friend (seriously) and we have 2 boys lol.
No worries![]()
Thanks for the advice people!
