    Default Do i need to buy a gasket for the intake manifold?

    Well my car is getting the plugs and injectors done on friday and i just wanted to know if the intake manifold has a special gasket?

    yeah they have a gasket, try and get a ve one cos its metal instead of the ususal cork stuff, or if you can hold off, order a set of mace insulators.

    Wow only 150 bucks!!, the problem is i could not get it by friday and the car is already booked in and NEEDS to be done.

    Thats no prob, u can always take the manifold off again & fit the spacers .

    holden should of replaced it with a reusable gasket. havent heard anything over the top about the insulators so i havent tried them but cant see a whole lot of difference in peformance

    The major problem with the factory gasket is that it can tear easily when taking the intake manifold off - sometimes half will stick to the engine and half the intake, causing it to rip when you lift.

    You can buy a reusable one from Holden or Holden parts dealers. I paid around $50 for mine. It's useful to buy one before you start replacing your plugs as you don’t want to get stuck half way with no gasket.

    I got a spare one if anyone would like it too. PM me if you are keen.

    platinum, get them from your holden parts place as they are less than $10 each

    Well its all done, my mechanic used an aftermarket reusable metal gasket for the intake manifold which should be good if i decide to fit the mace spacers later. Cheers guys.
