Hi Guys, my Dad and I run a business in Brisbane and have both bought matching silver SV6 Commodores thanks to the accountantMaybe SS Commodores next time.
We are looking to give the cars a nicer note than stock without going over the top and spending a fortune on a full new exhaust. They certainly don't have to sound ricey in anyway, just something subtle that gives more of a presence. Given that they are both automatics we are mindfull of how crappy an exhaust mod can sound on an auto. (Think VT Commodore Executive V6 done up with a cheap kit to look like clubsport with supercheap hubcaps and the trailer park trash exhaust note as the 3.8 slurs from 1st into 2ndvery ordinary indeed.) So that's NOT what we want.
Any other advice on basic and cheap mods that we can do to our cars to make them a bit more interesting would be great. Mind you the car is pretty good in it's stock form and is a big step forward for Holden....except for the damn fuel gauge issue and the auto box that has somewhat of a whine to it.
Previously he had a 02 Statesman V6 and I had an 02 Mini Cooper S. Both gone to good homes in the name of projecting a common corporate image or something like that anyway![]()
Cheers Guys.
Jason.
PS: Do any of you Brisbane guys ever get together for the odd night time cruise? When I had my MINI this kind of thing was pretty popular but since I sold it I miss the car based interaction, I was actually President of clubMINI here in Brisbae for a year. I know about the LS1 club as a couple of my mates have Clubsports and a GTO but given I don't have a V8 it's not really my bag. Always keen for a drive sensibly of courseand a chat about all things cars.
I've got the 190 but 6sp and have been looking at an exhaust but there doesnt seem to be much out there as yet and not many people have done them, I pulled the last muffler off on the weekend just to see if that made a difference - just two bolts and it comes off. I was suprised that it was still almost silent (which could suggest the front mufflers are quite restricted to?), as it wound up it has a very quite rumble to it but nothing to rave about - seriously it is almost silent. What I did notice was that it seemed to pull harder at lower revs, took the GF for a ride to and she thought the same, going to have it dynoed at the next service with/ without the last muffler - if it has made a difference then I can only guess what a decent system with headers might do... As for the sound, could be wrong, but dont think you would be dissapointed - you just dont know till its done though!
Thanks mate
have to have a go at doing this on the weekend, more low down interesting,i like already.Originally Posted by ash sv6

Hi Guys I Work For Holden In Petrie Accross The Road Is A1 Exhaust, I Have Asked About A Exhaust For My New Sv6 There Is Nothing Out At The Moment, As Most Company Havingproblem With The Cat Not Sure Of The Detail But As Soon As I Know Thay Get Back To Me I Will Get Back To You Guys
hi guys...
Saw a ss ute exhaust for sale on ebay, and the guy selling it said that it "would sound nice on the v6" but who knows really....
And it was only $130
I bought a ss exhaust of ebay for $72 for my 175 ute. Bolted straight on to my cats. At idle it's quiet as, but as you get some revs up it has a nice note. Still a bit quiet for my likings.Originally Posted by s7ormy

the new alloytechs have a tuned exhaust and doesnt really need to be touched because you WILL lose power somewhere along the rev range......holden should of just made it a bit louder out of the factory and it owuld of been sweet![]()
hi chim chim all you need is two 90 degree bends and peice of pipe and a pretty end. i will take some pics and post them soon. you can either make the pipes come out the back or like i have out the side behind the wheels. makes them sound like a v8 revs not noticable at idle.
probly had his exhaust for 6 years now...
