Hi Guys, i'm considering purchasing a VZ commodore at an auction (I currently drive a Mitsubishi!), however I will not know until the day of the auction wether it comes with a key apparently. Assuming the worst and no keys are supplied, would I have to replace all the locks and ignition barrel, or is it possible to obtain a new key with the VIN number from Holden???
Either option, anyone have a rough estimate on how much this would cost me? And while i'm here, if there are any tips on what problems I should be looking for on a VZ please share!
Cheers,
Ollie
what type of auction doesn't supply keys?? look for oil leaks under the motor and wear and tear in the cabin. check the mounts on the transmission fluid cooling radiator situated between the radiator and the front bumper for bends and paint missing were its been bent back. its a good indicator that the car has been pranged.
Well basically its a auction of impounded vehicles by the Police. Most of the cars were probably just taken, so I guess they don't have the keys for many of them. Kinda sucks because it also means I can't see the digital ODO, so I have no idea how many km's it's done, and can't even start the engine. Basically if it goes REALLY cheap it might be worth taking a chance....
