overheating sv6 o5 vz

just wondering if anyone has had a problem with there sv6 overhaeting.
I have had my mechanic look over it and the cooling fans and radiator are all ok ,though
the large cooling fan doesn't kick in until about half way on the temp gauge and when it finaly does it just keeps getting hotter, so peak hour traffic is a nightmare for me.

I should have added that the radiator cap was changed with a full sevice last week and Ive just noticed a ticking sound inside the car as is somthing is earthing out on the drivers side inside the cab, and the revs increase gradually before it ticks, man I have no Idea it isn't old school thats for sure.

how do i ask a questoion on here?...hubby wants to know where the thermostat is on vz and how difficult is it to change it?............new thermo fans,due to one not working but now car is overheating afdter driving 5 mins up road coolant is boiling.....friend had a look and said it the thermo on the bottom hose? i have no idea what is what and hubby is a bit of a bushmechanis..help.if its easier ill just put it in to mechanics
