    Default Water pump gone..

Hey all, the vee zed just blew the water pump...i was driving down the road and i could smell coolant, so i asked my mate that was with me if he could..he said no but i kept an eye on the temp gauge. 5 minutes later he's like yeah i can..so i pulled over and popped the bonnet and sure enough coolant coming down the front of the engine and making a decent size puddle on the ground.

Got it home 10 minutes down the highway and a bit of suburbia with it running no more then 1/8th more temp then it usually does (usually sits just above 1/4 and was in between 1/4 and 1/2). ripped all the engine covers off and radiator cover and seen the stream running down behind the top pulley of the engine. so just wondering how much am i looking at to replace?, and how hard is it..ive had the manifold off before, so is it just a little bit more work?

    P.S sorry about the story.

welcome to the "water pump just spat it" club

Feel good in knowing its a common thing, and Holden will have more then one on their shelf.

Their easy as to replace, theresd a guide here somewhere but basically you need to remove the drive belt, unbolt the pulley, unbolt the pump, slide it out, slide the new one in, bolt it up, bolt the pulley on, put the belt back on.

Took us all of 10 minutes and we were severley under the weather on a Sunday morning after a big night out.

As for price they vary, theres aftermarkets one out there but I dont know, Holden looked after me with mine

    nope!!

Step one there is just taking that black shroud off across the top of the radiator, but I'll assume you know how to do that.

no worries - good luck buying the pump.

I think Holden may be a bit expensive, but I'm pretty sure Repco caught onto the idea, so I think they stock a cheaper "aftermarket" one fr about 80 bucks, but don't quote me on that.

I just done the water pump in my rodeo. Repco was the place of purchase, $99.
Don't bother with genuine, you pay too much for the same part.

That sounds about right. $100 of that will be labour so yeah, not a bad price.
