doubt it. havent looked at the VE key but i doubt it has the metal knob on the outer side of key. this goes in contact with a ring on the ignition to send the security code i think.

You can get a flip key for your VZ but its not the VE one.

I might have to check this one out too. I absolutely hate the clunky big standard key - takes up half your pocket and it's awkward to handle when your hands are full with shopping etc.

would the flip key be backwards compatible with the vy key? Id be keen on it too, if thats the case. Cant stand the bulky key.

as said before, the vy key uses a contact point to send the code across to disarm the immobilizer were as the ve uses a transponder chip witch transmits its code as a radio frequency, they are not cross compatible, correct me if im wrong but i have never seen a vy with a flip key an i cut about 10 commodore keys a week at work..

Yes, I understand that the VE key isn't suitable but Torana355 said that VZ's could get a flip key - that's what I intend to chase up, to find out if it's compatible with the VY.

Just called Holden Parts, they reckon there's no such thing as a flip key for a VZ. Can you by any chance get a part number if one does in fact exist?

He was wrong. There is no flip key for any Commodore except for VE.

A guy on the LS1 forums bought a VE flip key and tried to make one himself. He put a lot of time and effort into it but unfortunately couldn't get any results.
