    Default VZ intake idea

    Hi all,

So I have been mulling over improving the intake on my VZ wagon. It is currently fitted with an SS front bar, with the standard fog light arrangement.

Just wondering if anyone has seen/tried using the two holes in the bar as intake ports? Even if you haven't, what do you see as the pros/cons?

    Cheers.

good idea BUT the first issue is during rain your going to potentially suck water into the airbox ...

True that. That was one thing playing on my mind... any suggestions for guarding against it?

Did you notice any difference in economy/performance with the mod?

If you want to improve performance just change your air filter element every 12 months or every 6 months if you do a high mileage and clean out the filter box.

These filters are cheap to replace and make a big difference. It is amazing how clogged these can become in a fairly short time.

Drawing input air that low to the road will result in more dust and debris being picked up so you will need a primary mesh guard rigged up to keep out the larger material like leaf litter, paper and the like.

i havent picked up 1 leaf in 2-3years. and doubt theres any more dust 40cm off the road compared to 80cm of the road. and havent picked up a drop of water either.

correct me if i'm wrong but this would also cause the air to take longer to get to the actual engine....... i've tried a number of setups, the longer the run the more torque u seem to get but it does delay power a tad.

Hadn't considered that conundrum, but it makes sense I guess. Thanks for the heads up!

    Anyone else with experience/opinions?

Seems like the two-hole MCAI might be the best bet.
