Hi All
Im looking at getting a strut tower brace for my VZ v6 and have been quoted $65.00 from Heartland at Penrith.
So im putting it out there if any one else wants one and try getting a bulk price for 10 or more. So if you live in the surrounding area and want in, let me know. When "we" get the numbers up see what price they will come to.
Worth a try!![]()
Try another dealer they should be around $35
I got mine for $55 at heartland, Castle Hill

It is useless on a v6, the v8 only has them to cope with the extra weight. Don't bother.
i got 1 on my vy and found it helped even though its a v6 car handled heaps better and only payed $30 4 mine
thanks guys, will have to start shopping for a better price. do like the $30.00 price tag VYWGN where did you get it from?
paid $50 for mine. its on a 6 and it did make a difference.
Just under 12 months ago I paid $48 trade price from my Holden dealer which included the 4 nuts to screw it to the bolts on the strut towers. I believe the price is approx $55-$75 retail price or thereabouts from Holden.
thanks again. i rang around and then quoted the lowest price to Heartland and they matched it $50. put it on and much better now. So you dont just need them on v8s.
Got my VY one from Holden in Bundaberg for around $59. It didn't come with the nuts. Does make a difference to handling in the V6 and for the price of them, why wouldn't you put one on?
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
i got one yesterday from metro holden in adel for 60 inc nuts and put it on while double-parked in the incredibly overfull carpark (3min job) haven't been round enough corners to see if its any better yet

Ah no, I mean a 3 point system, your strut brace is 2 point. It does nothing, it is all in your head. In fact, when you read some smart guys links(trying to find the link from a previous thread) regarding solid 2 point braces you will see it can actually be worse for the strut towers causing inverse flex.

Yeah I noticed it, seems to be a hell of a lot of fellow posters who noticed the improvement also.![]()

Like it or not Minux has a point. A proper strut brace is 3 point and is tied back to a rigid section of the vehicle - typically back to the central firewall. I have referenced some pictures below.
A bar purely linking the strut towers is mainly keeping the strut towers apart at the top so they do not move inwards. I am not arguing that you will not notice a change in the car. You should notice some difference in handling.
You can achieve essentially the same result with a Fender brace - otherwise known as a Monte Carlo bar - which just bolts to each side of the body adjacent to the strut towers.
If you open this web page you can see the various configurations of braces and bars - including the 3 point Strut Brace........................

If you look at the engine bay of this 68 Mustang you can see
1. the 3 point Ford Strut Brace bolted to the towers and the body; and
2. the aftermarket Monte Carlo Bar (Fender Brace) bolted to the body adjacent to the strut towers..........
