    Default VZ Service Kit??

    Hi Guys,

Well my VZ Calais is up for its 65000Km service soon. And Im looking for genuine Holden parts.
Since I live in Fiji and Holden Parts are RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE, I thought that I'd order parts from Aus.
Let me give yah an example.
I rang the local dealer for quotes of some original parts:
Genuine Front Brake Pads- $250 FJD
Genuine Rear Brake Pads- $195 FJD
    Genuine Oil Filter- $25 FJD
    Genuine Fuel Filter- $68 FJD
    Genuine Air Filter- $35 FJD

and the biggest smaker... Genuine Front Rotors- $700 (EACH!!!!)

    So anyways..
    1. I saw a Service Kit for VU-VY commys on eBay for $100 AUD. and that included everything for a basic service.. (b/pads, filters).

Is there one available for my VZ Calais. (alloytec 190)??? Are these 'service kits' any good?? Has anyone tried them>> (if it is availalble for my VZ!!)

    2. I also wanted to know what is wrong with my car.
Firstly, the car jerks when ever I shift from Park to Drive or to Reverse!! It is really noticable from the outside as well... is there something wrong with my transmission?? or is it the mounts??

Second, when ever im driving and feel like putting my foot down (im 17..soo that happens quite regularly..) the car doesnt respond immediately.
I mean if i have to overtake.. and bury my foot in the firewall.. it take almost 2-4 sec. before the car hunts for a lower gear.. and goes forward. Its feels like im driving a car with a HUGE turbo..!!
Is it my spark plugs?? Injectors..?? Dirty Throttle??

Third. the car drinks A LOT of fuel!! In fiji we get 91 octane. and after a quick drive (modest on the throttle.) i average 16.7L/100km. i mean..THATS NOT RIGHT!!

soo..please.. any good soul out there who can tell me why my calais is being such a bit@h and what do i need to do in the next service..

    Cheers.!!

the service kits im not sure about. however the delay on WOT (wide open throttle) is in every single V6 VZ on the planet...its just the way it is mate don't think there is much you can do about it. as for your fuel consumption those figures the computer spits out are not always spot on. you need to drive for at least 100kms before you are going to get a proper reading.

Hi Mate any reason you want holden parts? They are nothing special and by going for alternatives you may be able to get a cheaper local option

You mean brands like..Ryco for filters and Bendix for B/Pads??? .. Yeah..I guess I could do that.. but then again..I will have to purchase these in Aus and bring 'em to Fiji.

Its starting to become a head-ache!! Thats why..Imma selling the Calais..and by a HiLux or Pajero..!! LOL

only one problem with the fuel economy busness I can think of. Your driving the auto. All Holden autos are sluggish and require a bit of toe to get going. Ease up on the throttle and run about 1 tank of premium to 3 tanks of regular and it should clear up.

Also, get a performance air filter, it makes all the difference in power, noise, and you never need to change it when servicing (only clean it). I'm running a K&N panel filter and I've never regretted it. When the engine reaches 3,000rpm, everything changes and becomes heaps more gutsy.

Oh yeah, coupled with the 2 hole mod, it really gives that deep growl that comes with any expensive cold air intake kit. Highly reccommended for a the alloytec V6. At 3,000rpm and above, the engine changes note and everything frees up.

Take it to a workshop, let them do the service. At least you will know that it has been done correctly - and with appropriate parts.
