Does anyone know if the fitting of R8 Headers would improve performance on a CV8Z (last of the monaros) Monaro with the 260kw LS1 Motor over the standard cast iron manifold?
If you can pick them up cheap they will help but don't expect big gains, maybe 2-5rwkw.
Make sure they came from a car with the cats in the same place otherwise they won't be bolt in.
VY2 HSV 285's are the only ones that just bolt into CV8Z.

they will help a little but won't be any where near as good as aftermarket headers. HSV are going to be better than factory because they are the performance wing of holden but those headers would still be made as cheap as possible and probably cast not bent and welded
Have you actually seen a set of HSV headers, very much doubt you could cast them.
These headers below are almost identical to HSV VY2 headers made by the same manufacturer.

Thanks Surfwagon- Yes I had to move the cats further back & they hang down a bit now , but also the primary pipes on R8's are 1 5/8 inch & the HM aftermarket ones are 1 3/4 inch . I will keep the R8's on for a while but eventually will upgrade to a full aftermarket system with free flow smaller cats. Those HM ones look really good though...Price not bad either..
