This afternoon, I started to notice quite a bit of vibration coming from somewhere under the car. Its got nothing to do with the driveline or steering/brakes. It must be coming from one of the wheels, but I jacked it up and could'nt find anything out of the ordinary on any of the wheel assemblies.
Are there any bearings that sometimes go bad? The vibration gets really bad above 50kph. I havent yet tried it above 80kph.
I'm not the only one who drives the car and I can't get much info from those who also use it. I just hope it has'nt been slid into a kerb.
lose wheel nuts? buckled wheel?
Oh, bloody hell. The sound has gotten worse even after balancing and rotating tyres. When I stop driving and get out, there is a really strong smell of brearing coming from the front right. I'm sort of scared to drive on it untill I replace it. But I need the car for work! Is there any place in Melbourne that can sell me a wheel bearing after hours? I don't trust the ones I've seen on ebay, but I'm not exactly knee deep in cash. It also starts to wobble above 80kph, which is pretty nerve racking.
Please, if anyone can tell me how to get a bearing because I've got the manual and tools to do it myself.
Got the bastard! It turned out to be the hub unit. I just replaced it and the noise went away. Very easy job to do. Easily done at home.
whered you get the hub unit?
mine is annoying as and when cruising at round 80km/h + i start to feel vibrations through the steering wheel
