    Default Blown rear bulb fault

    G'day all

First minor fault with the VZ. It comes up with warnings for a blown taillight when the lights are switched on, and for a blown brake light when the brake is depressed. Which would be fine... if there actually was a blown bulb.

We've checked all lights. All taillights are working, as are number plate lights, and the three brake lights are also working when pedal is used.

Checked the fuses, and they all seem fine. Spat out a warning for a "taillight fuse blown" when I removed the fuse, but that's obviously gone. Next port of call will be to get some new bulbs. For the sake of a few dollars to see if they fix the problem, and if not I'll have it checked at it's next service.

Just wondering if anyone has a possible cause and/or solution for this?

    Cheers

Hows your Trailer socket??? Could have moisture in it or a shorting wire on the back of it.

Didn't even consider that. I think the connector might be in the boot as it's not mounted to the bumper, but it's worth a look. I'll check it out tonight after work.

I was getting the same warnings.

It turned out to be the number plate light was intermittently going on & off due to a build up of dust in the socket.

I pulled the globes out, dusted them off, reinserted and it was fine after that.

Ah cheers mate, will check that out too. Trailer connector seems to be fine and moisture free, and the taillights were replaced last night, still no go.

i get that mostly at the traffic lights when im only lightly on the brakes. I've noticed that the brake lights don't come on til the car's actually being slowed down so it might be the sensitivity of the sensor for the blown lights but i might replace the other number plate light to see if that fixes it
