Hey guys, just bought a vz sv6 a couple of days agoeverything is fine with it. however!
I noticed when i boot it off the lights, its sortof like it doesnt want to go up in the revs and hesitates, especially above 5000rpm. It has about 118k on the clock, so im guessing it might be the spark plugs as they may have not been replaced. im going to do a service on it this weekend and change the oil, plugs, air and fuel filters and just go over the car.
Any ideas what could be going on?
id prob do your service first, see how it goes if not then we will be able to narrow and rule out things
coils or plugs
Fuel filter... Mine had the same prob. All fixed.
check leads also
alright i went for a drive today with a mate. we both came to the agreement that its missing so my first guess is that its the plugs...
i know that the manifold has to be pulled of to do this but how do i go about doing it.
This should help - only prob is the MACE guide identified one wrong screw on top (there is a big hole in the front left) the final screw is at the back. Check the second link

Your problem sounds very similar to mine mate - missing under load or at high RPM. Mine turned out to be the coils too.
Go for the warranty option if you can, but if that fails I bought these from ebay and installed them myself GENUINE HOLDEN COMMODORE VZ V6 BOSCH COILS 3.6L - eBay, Other, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 08-May-10 14:18:55 AEST)
If you do it through holden your looking at $100+ for each coil, so the DIY option can save you about $400. Hit me up if you need any help installing them as I'd be happy to give you any advice, found a way to get it all done without completley removing the intake manifold and splitting the gasket![]()
oh sweet as. im 90% sure its the coils. the dealer better fix it (they should right?). however if they dont ill buy some off ebay, i worked as a mechanic for about a year and a half so ive got a pretty decent idea how to go about it. but some advice on getting the manifold out of the way would be great!
thanks mate![]()
hey guys, PROBLEM SOLVED!
took it back the my dealer, they fixed a wheel bearing issue i had, did a diagnostic scan and the coil showed no problems. he recommended i just change the air and fuel filter, and plugs. plugs were fine (Y). the air filter hadnt been change since 2008 :S and im guessing the fuel filter was the same (pretty much completely blocked). i threw a k&n panel filter in for now. the car goes so much smoother and got abit more power!
thanks for all your help guys!
