Hello,
This might be a stupid question, but do they make a k&n filter for the 3.6ltr 190 alloytek?
I bought one from supercheap but went to fit it and it is too narrow. My ute is 2007 build and looking on k&n site they don't make one for 2007 but when i put in 2006 it has one but the picture looks like the wrong shape. When I pulled out my paper one I swear it was rectangluar not this shape.
Can anyone give me some pointers?
Thanks
I think I answered my own question by getting off my ass and measuring it ... seems to line up with older commodore sizes. So 33-2116 should work just fine.
Mine is a rectangular shape and is universal throughout the VZ range. BTW, where did you find a 190 in a ute? I thought the utes only used the 190 in the VE models. My car's just the S pack and it has the 175 engine. Not that theres much difference.
pretty sure the air filters from the VS til now are all the same size..........
yea i got mine on the weekend mine a rectangluar couldnt see how that shape would fit a vz box

Just a quick question on the K&N filters, i understand the 33-2116 will fit in a VZ sv6 however if you look on the capa website, it shows
KN33-2116 VT-VX K&N Filter Element, Standard Replacement $ 124.00
KN33-2235 VY-VZ K&N Filter Element, Standard Replacement $ 124.00
so just curious as to the differences between the 33-2116 and the 33-2235 if anyone is in the know
I dont know the number but I have one that came out of an LS1 and slotted straight into the Alloytec - all VZ alloytec air boxes are the same regardless of output and yes, its a perfect rectangle and is the same size as the original.
does a k&n kilter make much difference in the vz 190?
I didn't notice a single difference ... I think its too small to notice, but I have always used them and always will![]()

I noted a difference wth mine, but mine's a BMC.....
I just love the way other motorists on the highway think it's an unmarked cop car.........
And Yes, it is a manual
how much does one set back for a vz sv6?
to be honest its not that much of a greater difference then people think.
I started a popular topic about the 2 hole mod which at the time made the car that much responsive, but as the ECU remapped to suit the extra airflow its kinda dulled down.
I think their about 100 bucks for a K+N but I might be wrong. Currently Ive got a standard back in mine because Ive been too lazy to buy a "recharge and clean kit"
After owning a K&N with the two hole mod for about a year and a half now........ I'd highly advise against it, the oil based filter coats the maf over time with oil as alot of people have pointed out for years........ and it causes bad lean outs off throttle....... it look me alot of runs and testing to find out it was the K&N Filter causing it......... since then I've moved to a SS Inductions kit...... expensive but the proof is in the putting, lower average iat temps, more maf airflow in g's/sec.
Oil Filters are bad....... 'just my opinion based on around 10 (monitored) runs a week for the past 3-4 months'. Filters in general wont improve your 0-100 time btw..... but possibly a dyno result as it's a long hault to the top out zone on a dyno.

Ive lost count the amount of K&N panel & pod filters ive used but i totally disagree with what you've just said.

don't disagree with the two hole mod, it works great without a doubt........ and the K&N filter is heaps better for the stock airbox then the normal paper one sure. But no I wouldn't fit any oil based filter in a car with a maf again.
