    Default vz ss 1/4 time

Hey, I entered my car in street drags eastern creek a couple weeks back and just curious what 1/4 times any of you have run in your vz ss or any reasonably standard 5.7L or 6L ss?

I did 4 runs and a best of 14.4 on daily 20" wheels and manual gearbox.... I am returning this wed nite to try and break into 13's which i will be heaps happy with.

At 245rwkw, does any one know if i stand a chance of knocking that 4 tenths of a second off? or do do i simply not have enough power to do it.. I want to do it on the 20" wheels without getting petty when it comes to weight stripping and all those excuses.

i feel there is a fraction more to be gained with the launch, but that's hoping haha.

    cheers!

12's seems too quick for my car..modified lancer evo's were running 12's with their AWD handicap.. i know i can't do anything better after i get off the line because i'm flat to the floor, changing gears consistantly when the car is coming out of torque, and smooth quick gear shifts. 3000rpm is what i'm stalling it up to and getting no wheel spin at all...so i'm gonna attempt a 3500-4000 launches next time. i'm tipping clutch slip or wheel spin though! so i think high 13's are the best i will get.

the stock manual box is pretty heavy and big throws each gear..bit of a pain because u pull hard on the car next to u and as soon as u change gears they come back at me each time.

    auto would be quiker

14.4 seems slow for 245rwkw, i woulda thought thats like mid 13s or something, so its either, grip (although u think ur getting plenty of it), launch, or shifts, yeah dont shift "when ur coming out of torque" shift as redline. My mates I6 falcon did 14.7, and thats an NA I6, with no where near 245rwkw, i would think your car would do 14.4, if not even slightly better stock, so yeah, you should definently crack 13s pretty easy.

if you arnt reving it out will do that too as the rev drop to the next gear is too much taking it out the good power range youll go way faster yet

245rwkw is equal to 328rwhp or approximately the same as the lastest VE GTS engine power of 325kw. What mods have been done to take your car to that power. Why are you asking people who have standard cars as yours isn't a good comparison if yours is modified up to the power you claim. Can you post your timeslip details and dyno readout details.

Then we will be able to accurately see what may be happening.

For the record, my mate has an almost stock VZ Clubby 6sp apart from cat back exhaust, and he has taken that down the 1/4 and run a mid 13 and he only has 303rwhp and thats on worn 19" street tyres and rims. Your quoting that you have 328rwhp and you have done a 14.4? You have big issues if your engine power is exactly as you say.

dyno sheet below.. it was done at pulse racing menai.

it did 205rwkw with growler kit/exhaust and the tune got it to 242.

car has 2.5" exhaust no extractors.
    growler air induction (17 rwkw)
    dyno tune

Well your 60" time is going to be a big problem as it should be closer to 1.8 - 2.0.

well i turned up to eastern creek lastnite with 15" stockies to see if it made an improvement, but it was closed for a top fueler weekend..
was pretty confident of getting into the 13's too. i honestly dont think a new ve gts could run 12 seconds stock. neither would my car.

that's 1 sec quicker than me...very nice! does your manual have rip shifter or anything? because the 2 gear changes i make to 3rd gear lose me a bit of ground. but i'm doing it as quick as anyone could. too heavy and the throw is ridiculous! but i think there is time to gain if i get a slightly better launch and use 4th gear instead of letting 3rd rev right out and lose top end speed...

AZZSS, what did u do for your 250 odd rwkw?

Sounds like your tuner has a happy dyno. Even with 20's on and no ripshift, at 245rwkw you should be in the mid 13's without an issue.

14.4 was a best after 4 runs on my first time of doing drags.. so like i said, i'm pretty confident of getting into 13's pretty easy next time. modified evo's were only doing mid 12's and they're alot better off the line. 13's is about right for my car after watching everyone elses average times.

The dyno reading is correct because i went to a dyno day (different work shop) a couple months back after my original tune and it did 245rwkw.. that was with new spark plugs, leads and full service on the previous day.

dyno dynamics...never accurate. Usually abut 20-30rwkw off the real figure.

Good luck with the next runs.

btw, modified evo's doing 12's is good. Evo'sare not made to go fast in straight line, they are made to go around corners fast and accelerate fast. 12 second 4 bangers isnt exactly bad...
