I don’t know if this has been covered in another thread, 1st post on here...
I walked out to my car this morning and try to unlock the car with the remote to no avail, I figured that the battery in the key was dead so I tried with the spare key, still nothingI try to open the door manually and it won't budge... I look inside and notice that the time wasn't displayed on the radio, so I’ve obviously got a flat battery, how this happened I’ve got no idea because I thought all lights and accessories turn off after you close the door and lock the car...
Anyway, I've called NRMA (RACV Equivalent) out to help me get into my car, he’s told me that the car has deadlocked itself, apparently when the battery gets to a certain level of flatness it will deadlock therefore not allowing anything in or out…
So we’ve had to jack the car up and get underneath the car to try and get some battery leads up to the battery to give us enough spark to open the doors with the remote, we then lowered the car, popped the bonnet and jump started it that way.
I have a few of questions for you…
Has anyone else had this happen?
Was there anything else I could do to get the car started?
What is the purpose of deadlocking the car if the battery goes flat?
is it a wag or sedan that you have? if its a wag you should be able to open the tailgate on the key and crawl through to pull the bonnet release.

i had this issue with my vx, if it works the same way you have to use the key.
put it in the key hole and turn it clockwise until you hear and feel a click.
the lock wont pop up but the door can be opened.
hope it helped
